Tenerife Markets

There are markets all over Tenerife, some very local selling fruit and vegetables and others like the huge Sunday tourist market in Los Cristianos. The largest markets have masses of stalls including clothing, books, electrical goods, fabrics, souvenirs, jewellery and even property! They can be found at:

Rastro de Santa Cruz, Avda. Jose Manuel Guimerá, near the market place. Sunday mornings.

Los Cristianos, In front of the Gran Hotel Arona. Sundays from 10.00:14.00

Playa de Las Américas, In the Barranco de Troya. Daily from 8.00 except Thursdays and Saturdays from 10.00:14.00

Golf Del Sur Market (Friday mornings)One of the newest markets in Tenerife situated near to the new marina. A good variety of stalls.

Los Abrigos Night Market every Tuesday evening This little market is held in the square in front of the church. Though there are a great number of stalls to browse through, you might still pick up some interesting sliver jewellery, some casual clothes or souvenirs.

Guaza Sunday Market Sells second hand books, clothes, CDs, DVD's and videos

Happy Days Car Boot Market, Costa del Silencio first Sunday of the month, Held at the tennis and bowling club, the proceeds from this market go to support K9 which is a local dogs home. It is a car boot market you can expect to find all sorts of second hand goods. There is usually a good cake stall and a stall selling old paintings and furniture.

Santa Cruz African Market (Sunday mornings)
The Mercado Nuestra Senora de Africa is a bazaar of over 300 stalls selling fresh local produce. It is a short walk from the bus station close to the pink clock tower, get there as early as possible for the best fruit and vegetables.

If you are planning to explore the area outside of the city centre and play some golf or go to some of the more out of the way beaches then you might consider hiring a car. There are a number of car hire firms based at Tenerife Airport who will be pleased to have a vehicle awaiting your arrival. This also cuts down on transfer costs for you and your family.
