Markets in Santander
The
Mercado
de la Esperanza is a very popular and busy market which was
built in 1897 and carefully restored in 1977. It is a great place
to experience the local atmosphere while watching the trading of
the fishmongers on the ground floor and fruit and vegetable merchants
on the first floor.
Behind the Mercado de Esperanza building, in the Plaza de la Esperanza there is a daily open-air market which sells clothing, fruit and flowers. Opening hours Monday to Friday are from 8.00am - 2.00pm and 5.00 - 7:30pm and on Saturday from 8.00 am - 2.00 pm
