Santander Airport is situated in the municipality of Camargo, just 5 kilometres from the capital.
The airport has been extended and reformed in recent years, and in 2009 958,157 passengers and 18,753 flights were handled there. Although the number of visitors is a lot less than many other Spanish Airports, the number has increased compared to the 180,000 people who passed through there in 1995.
Santander Airport offers a new wireless internet service with access points in different areas: the departures lobby, restaurant area, boarding lounge and air-bridge module. Passengers with laptops or PDAs equipped with Wi-Fi technology will now have wireless access to the internet provided by Teléfónica de España.
Four car rental companies are based at Santander offering Santander Airport car hire and you will find their offices within the main terminal building.

Ryanair are the only UK low cost airline that currently offer direct flights to Santander.
Over the summer season Santander handles flights from London Stansted as well as domestic connections to Alicante, Barcelona, Dublin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Malaga, Milan, Palma, Rome, Seville, Tenerife North and Valencia.
Air Nostrum (Iberia’s regional airline) offer a good selection of internal flights from Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Tenerife North and Valencia.

The main taxis at Santander airport can be found on a rank opposite the arrivals terminal. The taxi drivers know when the planes are scheduled to arrive and they are always waiting. Expect to pay about €15 for a taxi ride into Santander.

The Santander airport bus stop is just outside the main terminal building and the buses run into Santander (bus station) at 06:40, 07:00 and every half hour until 23:00 and from Santander at 06:30, 06:50, 07:15 and every half hour until 22:45 The airport is only 5 kms from Santander so the journey is quick and costs just €2.00. There is also a bus from Santander which provides an overnight connection into Madrid Airport Terminal 4 for early flights. You can find out more at www.alsa.es
There are no trains at Santander Airport but there are local Santander trains running along the Cantabrian coastline to the east and west.

Santander Airport ArrivalsThe Santander arrivals and departures area are not that large and there are just 2 baggage collection carousels, 8 check in desks and 3 boarding gates.
The arrival traffic comes in on the ground floor of the passenger terminal building via two doors. The general arrivals hall can handle 636 passengers and includes the baggage reclaim hall, passport control and the arrivals hall with car hire offices. The departures traffic leaves from the ground floor of the terminal building and can handle 575 passengers an hour. Besides the check-in desks the departures area also houses the multi shop and restaurant.

Parking at Santander airport is pretty reasonably priced and offers 785 parking spaces, with 20 for disabled drivers. During the summer months it is advisable to try and get the car into as much shade as possible!

There is a multi shop within the terminal building selling cigarettes, newspapers etc and a cafeteria which is located in the departures waiting area. It serves all types of coffee, baguettes, salads, snacks, drinks and ice-cream.
The airport cafeteria has a smoking area; in the rest of the airport terminal smoking is prohibited.
