Son Vida is an intriguing and entertaining course, with the first 9 fairways being pretty narrow with a few difficult bunkers and dog-legs thrown in. It requires a certain level of precision and even though the greens are very large you still have to hit the ball well because their subtly uneven design cannot be seen, but can easily send the ball off course.

The course has a very clever design and even surfaces with even experienced players encountering difficulties with the waterfalls, bunkers and the fairways, which are very long (tenth with a par of 5 measures 590 metres and is one of the longest in the world.) It has very fast greens and demands a tactical approach.

Designed by Pepe Gancedo, the Son Antem course is fairly short and can be difficult with many trees and natural obstacles. It is situated in gently rolling hills and the course peters out in a valley near the sea. It has well-kept fairways, stone walls, two lakes and a number of olive groves.

With 18 holes set in an area of 6430 metres, Poniente is perfect for tournaments and competitions. Situated between Magaluf and Santa Ponsa, this fine course is one of the best designed of the Balearics. It is played by professionals play it and even very experienced golfers find the course highly challenging. The landscape varies from pine woods to wide open spaces and uneven ground with a winding course that has long and wide fairways. It gives golfers the opportunity to use all their irons and requires some clever strategy.

The greatest difficulty on this 18 hole course is that the impeccably kept greens need to be studied at length before putting. Trees and strategically placed bunkers make it an entertaining course, offering a degree of difficulty which demands constant effort from the player to get the best out of their game.

Pula Golf In the northeast of the Levante area of Mallorca in the urban area of Son Servera. Pula is currently the newest of the Balearic courses with a par of 71 for its 6003 metres. It s naturally framed by pine and Holm oak forests, and forms part of a vast leisure complex with a clubhouse, 90 apartments and a five star hotel.

The course is home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks, swans, goats and red and fallow deer. Pula is a very attractive, elevated course with a cool sea breeze during the hot summer months.

This course is fairly flat, with the holes very close to one another. The course is located in a pine forest and the fairways are extremely narrow. It is a small nine hole course of twenty hectares with the general layout designed by John Harris.

Vall d'Or is located in Horta surrounded by beautiful countryside with great sea views. For the first 9 holes the course dips between low hills covered by pines, olive and almond groves. The greens are small and well protected with good lead-ins for approach shots. The second 9 holes have a very different layout with compact and variable fairways.

Capdepera Golf is in the northeast corner of Mallorca on the road between Arta and Cala Rajada. It has six lakes and stands in a spectacular valley surrounded by mountains. One of most popular in Mallorca, this well thought-out course features including waterfalls, walls and bunkers. It is a very balanced course to play with long, wide fairways, large greens and narrow stretches that require a more precise game. It appeals to novices and expert players. From the tees of the first nine holes there are fabulous views between the Valleys of Capdepera and Canyamel

If you are planning to explore the area outside of the city centre and play some golf or go to some of the more out of the way beaches then you might consider hiring a car. There are a number of car hire firms based at Palma Airport who will be pleased to have a vehicle awaiting your arrival. This also cuts down on transfer costs for you and your family.
