Parking at Bilbao Airport

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Hi Richard,

If you click on this link it gives you details of parking facilities at Bibao Airport. I would get the driver to leave it in P1 which can accommodate minibuses and people carriers.

Linda

Gary – wondered if you could help with this one please -we will be arriving by Easyjet on 12th Oct approx 10.30am and collecting our car which is coming over on the P&O ferry from UK which docks about 8.0am ( it just about clears the ramps!)and being driven to the airport to meet us – the cars ground clearance is only about 4 inches and it is quite wide 6.5 feet so I would appreciate any comments on best place to park it for a shortish period and avoid any problems eg car park ramps and speed ramps generally etc -many thanks- Richard Stockdale

Getting from Bilbao to San Sebastian

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Hi Russell,

If you click on this link for the Alsa buses website it gives you details of buses from central Bilbao to San Sebastian . And you can find out how to get from the airport to the centre of Bilbao here.

This link connects you to the Pesa website but they do not run buses to San Sebastian.

Linda

Dear Gary

I am trying to work out how to get to San Sebastian from Bilbao airport tomorrow evening.

I land at 21.10 and my hotel tells me that there is a bus that runs direct from the airport to San Sebastian, leaving at 21.45 and 22.45. They have referred me to the pesa.net website but I cannot find any reference to these particular buses. I have emailed Pesa but they have not replied.

Do you have any information on relevant transport links which would enable me to make my required journey?

Many thanks

Russell

Travelling to Burgos from Bilbao, Valladolid or Santander Airport

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Hi Linda

Many thanks for your speedy reply and help – very useful information.

Marianne

Hi Marianne,

You can catch a train to Burgos from both Bilbao and Valladolid Airports. If you click on this link it will take you through to the Renfe website where you can check timetables.

As far as buses are concerned you can find out details of buses from Santander Airport to Burgos here: buses from Bilbao here and finally buses from Valladolid Airport

Linda

Hi – I am planning to continue on the Camino to Santiago from Burgos. I am flying from London and can arrive at three airports – Bilbao, Valladolid or Santander (in order of preference). I would like to know the times of buses or trains that will take me from one of these airports to Burgos. Even some website addresses would help.

Kind regards

Marianne

Dear Gary

I am trying to find timetables for flights from FUE to mainland Spain especially SJV, ALC or Almeria

can you point me in the right direction

Many thanks

Taking wine through Spanish customs

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Hi Ben,

Afraid the wine will have to go into your hold luggage. Customs will not allow liquids through security which are carried in your hand luggage.

Hope it survives the journey!

Linda

Hi.
I have bought a few bottles of wine (around spain) that I would
like to take in my hand luggage through Bilbao airport onto my my
easyjet flight back to the UK.
Will this be possible? Will they allow me to bring it through?
I am aware that some of the strict rules regarding carrying
liquids though airport security have been relaxed but am not sure
to what extent!
I am flying back tomorrow so any answer would be very helpful.

Best regards

Taxis at Bilbao Airport

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Hi again Eoin,

Spanish taxis do not have a meter as such but they do have all the fares listed in a booklet. So your parents can ask what the fare will be before they set off and the driver has to stick to this amount.

There are firms which arrange pre-paid private transfers which can be booked in advance when the driver collects the passenger from the arrivals hall and escorts them to the vehicle. The only firm I know of who offer this service from Bilbao airport are Holiday Taxis but they only list a few resorts. You will need to email them direct to find out if they can offer a private transfer to Valcaba.

Linda

Linda,

many thanks, can I ask supplementary question ?

Is it normal in Spain to take a taxi ‘on the meter’ and is this absolute ? i.e. whatever is on the meter at the end is what one pays ?

Or for a route like this (which is long, and involves some mountain roads at the end) can the driver either refuse to take the fare or insist on a supplement ? Is there a dispatcher/controller normally on duty at the airport who can sort this out ?

Or is it possible to arrange a (pre-paid) transfer and are there companies that just do this ?

Thanks in advance, just want to get all the facts clear for my parents !

Taxi firms at Bilbao Airport

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Hi Eoin,

If you click on this link it gives you details of taxi firms which operate from operate from Bilbao Airport which can transport your parents to Valcaba.

It’s a 108km journey from the airport to Valcaba so a taxi (which will take up to 4 people) will cost in the region of €150 single fare.

Linda

Hola,

excuse por favor mi escritura esto en inglés :

Together with my parents, my family will visit Asón Agüera this August.

We are staying (altogether 17 people) in a Posada in Valcaba, Valle de Soba. (nearest town is Ramales de la Victoria)

Most of the family members will arrive later by car, and my parents will come first by airplane from Ireland to Bilbao.

I am trying to find the easiest way for my parents to come from Bilbao airport to Valcaba.

Can you help ?

The train FEVE goes from Bilbao to Gibaja, but only runs 3 times each day.

Is there a taxi company in Bilbao or Santander that will collect my parents from Bilbao airport with their luggage and bring them to the Posada in Valcaba ?

Do you have an estimate of how much it will cost in total ? Are these trips usually arranged by a pre-payment basis for an agreed total fare or is it required to rent the taxi at the airport and pay the total on the meter ? Is there a list of approved taxi companies and telephone numbers to call ?

Gracias mucho por su ayuda

Flights into Santander and Bilbao

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Linda: Thank you for you assistance. Charles Holder

Hi Charles,

If you visit our guide to flights to Santander Airport and guide to flights to Bilbao Airport you will see all the locations listed which you can fly from in the UK along with the airlines which operate the routes. You can also find details of flights to Alicante here which is a much larger airport and where you will see there is a greater choice.

Linda

Hello Gary: We are travelling SW UK to northern Spain next May, 2009. We are looking for any flight from Plymouth, UK or Exeter, UK to Santander or Bilbao Spain. Are you aware of any? Our next choice for an arrival airport in Spain is Alicante. Thanks, Charles Holder, Calgary, Canada.
