Situated halfway up the appropriately named Costa Blanca (White Coast), Alicante has all the advantages of a major city with some great shops, excellent restaurants, fascinating museums and attractions and a lively nightlife.  With all this it still manages to maintain the relaxed feel of the port town it has always been.
