Melilla Airport is in the Spanish territory of Melilla which is situated in mainland North Africa. It is about a 90 minutes drive from the border to Morocco. It is located four kilometres southwest of the city centre. With access via the ML-204, which connects it to the city and the ML-300 ring road that links all the various districts in the city of Melilla.
The airport opened in 1969 and offers a number of domestic flights to airports on mainland Spain including Granada, Malaga, Alicante, Madrid and Valencia. In 2009 the airport handled 3,293,692 passengers and managed 9,245 flight operations.
Melilla’s air, sea and land connection make it an ideal place to fly into and stay if you want to visit Morocco but remain in the European Community

Melilla Airport TaxisThere is a taxi rank directly outside the terminal building at Melilla Airport. An approximate guide to their charges are: €6.50 single fare to the city centre: €6.00 to the nearest beaches and €7.00 to the Parador de Melilla. At weekends an extra €1.00 is added to each journey.
There is no bus service at Melilla Airport but there is a city bus in Melilla which takes you to the Moroccan border. The local bus 2 (marked “Aforos”) runs between Plaza de España and the Beni Enzar border post every 30 minutes from 7.30am to 11pm.
The main bus stop is on south side of Plaza de España.
There are no trains in Melilla Airport but the Moroccan train operator ONCF has three trains daily between Taourirt and the Beni-Nsar Port train station, which is about five minutes’ walk from the border.
Connections are available at Taourirt with trains to Fès, Rabat, Casablanca, and Oujda.
There are daily ferries from Melilla to Malaga and Melilla to Almeria (twice daily in summer). you can find out more about timetables and book a ferry online at www.directferries.co.uk
Travel times are approximately 8 hours to Malaga (fast ferry 5 hours in summer) and 6.5 hours to Almeria (fast ferry 3.5 hours).
