Weather in Malaga
The climate in Malaga is moderate in winter with very mild minimum
temperatures. The summers are hot, but tempered by the city's proximity
to the sea.
The average rainfall is low at around 469 mm a year with most of the rain occurring between November and January.
The sunshine hours are very high with an average of 2,901 hours of sunlight every year. The maximum temperatures are in July and August, and the minimum in December. The average annual temperature is around 23°C (73°F), and with its blue sky and broad expanse of bay the city has been compared to Naples. the climate also makes it the ideal place to grow olives and fruits including strawberries, oranges and lemons
Because Malaga and the Costa del Sol is characterised by having a backdrop of mountains, rising as high as 2000 metres, if you are staying inland then temperatures can be significantly lower, particularly when the sun is not shining.
My favourite months in Malaga are May and September when it is
warm and sunny, but without the humidity that can be experienced
in the hottest months. The perfect weather in Malaga and the many
beautiful beaches in the area, make this area one of the most popular
places to visit in Spain.
Choosing a Car
The weather in Malaga really is hot enough for you to put the air conditioning on during the spring and autumn months. Most of the hire cars come with it for a small amount extra, and if you are visiting Spain over the summer months we strongly recommend that you get an air cooled car.
