Malaga Golf Courses

The Costa del Sol in the province of Malaga is often referred to as the Costa del Golf, with over 40 championship golf courses and its temperate climate. Popular with European golfers for many years, the area has become better known farther afield since the 1997 Ryder Cup was held at Valderrama. The demand is so great that many new courses are being developed and with the more popular courses rounds sometimes need to be booked well in advance during the high season.

La Cala is one of the toughest courses one the Costa de Sol and a good challenge for medium and low handicap players with two 18 hole north and south courses.

On the North course the first four holes are trouble free with the first difficult hole being the 6th (par 5). To score well on this course accuracy is a lot more important than length. It a tough course to walk if you a not fit with greens that are usually in good condition and quite forgiving.
The South Course has undulating, spectacular terrain which provides various degrees of difficulty. The 10th is considered La Cala's toughest par 5 at the par 3 11th hole when the tee shot must cross a ravine and the second shot must clear water.

The club has recently been renovated and the changing rooms are now excellent and include a sauna and complementary towels. The club has a terrace bar overlooking the 18th South course or there is Mulligans Irish pub down in La Cala village.
