Trains at Madrid Airport

Madrid Airport trainsThe Madrid Airport trains run via the Metro (underground), the mainline high speed trains such as the RENFE and AVE which operate from Madrid Atocha main line station and do not go to Madrid airport but they are only a few minutes away and can be reached by the Metro.

At the bottom of the page I have listed the various routes that you can take if you are travelling by mainline train.

Madrid Airport Trains - Metro

Metro at Madrid Station

Madrid Airport has two metro underground stops: one on the lower ground floor of T2 (with access to T1,T2 and T3) and another on Floor -1 of T4.

When you arrive at the metro stations you will find a row of self-service machines where you can purchase your ticket and there is also an information desk, but no ticket office so make sure you carry some spare change.

The airport falls within zone A of the metro, and line number 8 (Nuevos Ministerios-Airport ) operates from both terminals.

The journey time to the city centre is around 45 minutes, although you will have to change lines at Nuevos Ministerios from 8 to 10 and then at Tribunal to line 1 to get to the Renfe Atocha main line station.
