Beaches in Lanzarote
Beaches in Lanzarote range from the beautiful white sands in the north to the dark volcanic beaches of Puerto Del Carmen. The main beach in Puerto del Carmen is the long and busy Playa Grande. Adjacent to the old town is Playa Chica which plays host to a wide range of sporting activities including diving, jet skiing, parasailing and snorkelling
Lanzarote Beaches
In
the South of the Island near the resort of Playa Blanca is Papagayo
which is the most beautiful beach of all. It has beautiful white
sand, and although nudist bathing is common here it is by no means
compulsory.
If you want to surf or go body boarding the beaches of Famara and La Santa in the west of Lanzarote are the places for you. Famara is world famous for its surf but have very large waves and is not for the fainthearted.
In the north of the island near Orsola there are a number of white sandy beaches which are quite isolated but can be accessed by foot. In the northeast in the Costa Teguise you will find Las Cucharas which is famous amongst the windsurfing community and has been a breeding ground for several international champions.
El Reducto in Arrecife
is a wonderful golden beach which faces a number of Canarian
bars where you can sit and watch the world go by.
Getting around in Lanzarote
If you are planning to explore the area outside of the city centre and play some golf or go to some of the more out of the way beaches then you might consider hiring a car . There are a number of car hire firms based at Lanzarote Airport who will be pleased to have a vehicle awaiting your arrival. This also cuts down on transfer costs for you and your family.
