Driving Directions to and from Lanzarote Airport are via the Ctra de Arrecife-Yaiza (LZ-2)
road, taking the exit which is clearly marked at Kilometre point number 4. The
Airport is only 5kms from Arrecife, the island's capital. Those wanting to get to the south of the island will also use the LZ-2 or the LZ-40 for Puerto del Carmen, while those wanting to get to the north will most likely follow the LZ-1.

Lanzarote is of volcanic origin making it a fascinating place to visit. As such the National Timanfaya Park with its' amazing Fire Mountains just a half an hour journey up the LZ-2 and LZ-67 should be the first port of call. This spectacular multicoloured landscape is the result of the more than 30 volcanoes which erupted here almost 300 years ago.
If it´s a more traditional tourist retreat you´re after then look no further than the old fishing village of Puerto del Carmen with its' beautiful beaches and subtropical gardens. The route there follows the LZ-2 to the LZ-40 and finally the LZ-504.
For those who like to get back to nature however, there is a walkers paradise at the far northern point of the island in the form of the Isla Graciosa. This tiny little island which has no roads, only dirt tracks, and a few small restaurants, offers utter tranquillity and can be reached via ferries which live from Orzuca around 3 to 4 times a day. To get to Orzuca you follow the LZ-1, LZ-201 and then the LZ-204.
