Getting from Bilbao to Vitoria

Hi Celeste,

If you click on this link it gives you the various transport options from Bilbao Airport

The best way to get to Vitoria from Bilbao is by train. But this involves a change at Miranda de Ebro as you will see from the timetable link.

Hi Colette,

I am afraid there are currently no flights from the UK into Vitoria Gasteiz, and they only handle domestic flights from Madrid and Barcelona.

Hi Gary,

Last October I flew with Ryanair to Vitoria Gasteiz to stay with friends who live in Haro. Unfortunately, it appears tha Ryanair are no longer offering this service. Can you tell me which other carriers fly from the UK to Vitoria?

Hello there,

We are Aegean Airlines from Greece and will be performing the return flight of Greek Basketball team (Olympiacos)

on the 12th of December at 23:55 departure from VIT to Athens.

Unfortunately though we are facing some difficulties finding a catering company who can prepare 45 meals for this flight.

As our aircraft will be on ground for 36 hours in VIT from the previous flight we have no option on sending the meals from Greece.

Would you have any contact details for catering company which we could cooperate?

I appreciate your help.

Getting from Vitoria to Santander

Hi Anna,

There are Renfe trains from the centre of Vitoria into Santander but the last one is at 15.15 so will be no good to you. Follow this link for details http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=11208&D=14223&AF=2007&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i

You can get a taxi from Vitoria Airport into the centre (cost about €17). Details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/vitoria-airport.html but the uses only operate one a day.

So it looks like you will have to stay in Vitoria for the night and get a train to Santander the following day. You can find details of hotels at http://www.vitoria-hotels.com/ and I believe the two star Dato is fine for stop over.

Linda

Hallo there Gary. I am travelling to Vitoria this week (arriving at 16.50)
in order to get on to the Camino del norte. From the information I have
found apparently there are no buses to Santander from the airport. Does
this mean staying in Vitoria and getting transport from there? Are there
buses to and from Vitoria Airport to Vitoria and possibly hostales or
refugios there?
Be most grateful for your help

Getting from Vitoria to Lourdes

Hi Jane,

There are virtually no bus services from Vitoria Airport and the only way I can find is to travel by train from Vitoria city centre to Irun - see link http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=11208&D=11600&AF=2007&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i and then from Irun to Gendaye to Lourdes see link http://www.voyages-sncf.com/dynamic/_SvTermConsHorPropositionAller?_TMS=1184330659576&_DLG=SvTermConsHorPropositionAller&_LANG=UK&_AGENCY=VSC

But as you will see the services are very limited and do not tie up time wise.

The only other thing I can suggest is that you hire a car from the airport and drive to Lourdes. It is a 325km journey and will take about 3 hours 30 minutes. You can get a competitive quote for car hire at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Linda

Getting from Vitoria to San Sebastian

Hi Carol,

The best way to get from Vitoria to San Sebastian is by train - timetables and prices at www.renfe.es or follow this link http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=11208&D=11511&AF=2007&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i
There are no buses at the time you arrive so you will need to get a taxi to the railway station in Vitoria Gasteiz and this will cost in the region of €18 (for all 3 of you).

The trains are pretty frequent and the quicker option.

Hope this helps.

Linda

Hey Gary, I've been reading the posts on the website and I have the
same question as everyone else regarding how to get to san sebastian
from vitoria. My flight arrives in Vitoria at 11:35 so i'm assuming
that i have already missed the one bus that goes to the Vitoria bus
station. If I am traveling with 3 other companions would the taxi cost
10 euro total or for each individual? Also are the trains and buses at
the same station because i was either going to take the regional
expres train to san sebastian or a bus if i missed the train. would
you recommend train or bus and what are the names of the bus companies
which run to san sebastian? Thanks so much for your help!

Cheers,
Carol

Getting from Vitoria Airport to Pamplona

Hi Shelley

The best way (and only!) public transport route is by train from Vitoria. You will need to get a taxi to the station in the town centre at a cost of around €18. There is only one bus a day from the airport into town so avoid that route. You can get info here on the trains http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=11208&D=80100&AF=2007&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i

Getting from Vitoria to San Sebastian

Hi Kathryn,

There are no bus services from Vitoria to San Sebastian but you can get a train from the centre of town. This link will give you details It looks like a pretty regular service and the trip is about 120km. The bus service into town is abysmal but you can get a couple of taxis from the airport to the station.

A taxi will not take 6 of you for the whole journey (and would cost about €125), so your only other option is to hire a car, and you can get a competitive quote here
Have a good wedding!

Linda

Hi Gary,
I am flying into Vitoria Airport on Friday arriving at 13.40
There are 6 of us in our group and we are travelling to a wedding in San Sebastian.
We are flying back on Monday morning at 09.55

Is there public transport options that suit times from Vitoria and returning from San Sebastian.
While we are all drivers none of us have driven on the right hand side of the road before (from rainy Ireland)

I would appreciate it if you could advise me of the best options

Vitoria to Biarritz

Hi Mary,

Well I've also drawn a blank with car hire, coaches and transfers. I even changed your arrival date to the 2nd as most of the companies are closed on Sunday when you arrive, but even then there was nothing available.

The only way I can find is by train and you can get the details and timetables at http://www.sncf.fr/indexe.htm

Hope you manage to sort something out.

Linda

Myself and family are flying into Vitoria Airport in Spain Am on 1st July. We are looking at hiring a 7 seater Car for 1-2 Weeks.
Our Destination is Birattiz.

I am not having any luck with finding a car suitable.

Vitoria Airport to Oviedo Centre

would you have any idea on how to get from vitoria airport to oviedo centre, by bus or train, what would the quickest way be , it will be in october

My Reply...

Hi David

Vitoria to Oviedo is a LONG way, about 340 kms!

You would need to get from the airport to the main train station then there is only 1 train per day, it leaves at 1057 in the morning.

All info here... you can put the site into english!

www.renfe.es

Buses is trickier and I don't know the answer BUT you could start by going to this website and then calling them, they should speak English....

Vitoria Airport to San Sebastian

Hi there,
I was looking on your website and was wondering if you could help me. I am flying to Vitoria Sunday July 1st, arriving at 15.30. I need to get to San Sebastian as I am going to study at a school there, starting on the Monday. I have read that the only bus service from the airport to the bus station is at 15.45pm therefore I won't have enough time to get there before the bus leaves. I was thinking of getting a taxi to the bus station and then getting a bus to San Sebastian. I can only seem to find one bus company that does the journey - Continental-Auto. I am worried about whether I need to book a place beforehand or can I book a seat once I get off the plane? I think there is a bus that leaves at 17.45, arriving in San Sebastian at 19.20.
If you have any better suggestions, please let me know as I am worrying I won't be able to get there in time.
Many thanks, please respond ASAP.
Christina

Hi Christina,

Spanish buses are so difficult for us to get information on, many of them just dont have websites...

I am sure that there are about 3 companies offering buses but can't get the info, there is also a train (www.renfe.es) BUT the last train seems to leave at 1430!

I think the best thing to do is to go to the OFFICIAL TOURIST FOR SPAIN and see if you can find the info, if not then email them or call them.

Let us know how you get on so that we can help other people making the same trip!

Regards and good luck

Vitoria Airport to Logrono

Dear Gary,
I am hoping to travel to Logrono to visit my son on 20th April returning on 24th April. I would like to know how long the bus journey takes from Logrono to Vitoria airport. I believe the first bus in the morning on weekdays is 07.00 and my flight back from Vitoria to London Stansted depart at 10.05am. I would like you to tell me if this is enough time to get there and check in for flight departure. Otherwise I will have to look for alternative flights as there is only one flight per day. I look forward to hearing from you with any information.
Yours sincerely,
Marj Clark

My Reply...

Its only 60 kms so I would imagine thatwould be planty of time.
Getting bus information is very very diffcult and I would suggest that if your son is there he should pop into the bus station in Logrono to find out for sure.
If all else fails a taxi would be around €60 and take about 40 mns.
Hope that you have a great trip

There are buses from Santander and Bilbao so you would need to get the bus from the airport to Vitoria and then to Bilbao and the to Noja.

Bus from Vitoria to Vitoria Airport

Hi Gary,

I was hoping you could give me some information about the bus schedule from Vitoria to the airport, when it runs, how long it takes etc. I am hoping to catch the 14.10 to Dublin on Friday 30 March.

Thank you,Caren McGuire

p.s In one of your other questions, it mentioned San Adrian and transport problems. The nearest train station is Calahorra and the buses are almost non existent. If they go to the bus station in Calahorra, near the town hall there is a time table there. To get to almost anywhere of interest they will have to go to Calahorra to Logrono (1 hr) then Logrono to the city of choice (4.5 hours Madrid, 2.5 hours Bilbao, 2 hours Zaragoza (from Cal)).

You were right when you said it was a remote place!

My Reply...

Here I have provided you with as mouch information as I can find. There doesnt look to be many buses.

However...

Here is link for
