Getting from Alicante to Valencia using public transport

Hi Jacqueline,

You can get a bus from the centre of Valencia to Alicante - details at https://www.alsa.es/VentaParticulares/AGVenta or a train from the Renfe Station - details at http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=60911&D=VALEN&AF=2008
&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i

You can also get details on buses from the airport to Valencia city centre at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/alicante-airport-buses.html or a taxi from the airport to the city centre bus or railway stations will cost you in the region of €20.

Linda

Dear Gary,

Could you tell me what would be the easiest way to get from Alicante airport to Valencia using public transport? I was thinking of getting a taxi to Torrellano station to get a train to Alicante, and from there a train to Valencia. Is there a more direct way using the trains? Also could you tell me if there is a direct bus from Alicante airport to Valencia, if not then a bus that I could get from the airport to Alicante and then one from Alicante to Valencia?

Many Thanks,
Jacqueline

Bus and train stop locations in central Valencia

Hi Chris,

The best map I can find which gives you locations of bus stops and the rail station at Valencia is at http://travel.yahoo.com/p-map-488734-map_of_valencia-i;_
ylc=X3oDMTFka28zOGNuBF9TAzI3NjY2NzkEX3
MDOTY5NTUzMjUEc2VjA3NzcC1kZXN0BHNsawN0aXRsZQ--

There are excellent metro train and bus services in the city and you should be able to pick up timetables when you get there. Your hotel is number 21 on the map which is interactive so you can zoom in and out for the bus and railway stations.

Hope this helps.

Linda

Dear Gary,

I will be arriving in Valencia in mid October (11-15) and am having
some difficulty understanding WHERE the trains and buses travel inside
the city. I was perusing the spanish-airport-guide.com site in hopes
of finding help.

I know where I will be staying already:

Hotel NH Express las Artes
INSTITUTO OBRERO 26
Valencia

But am having difficulties finding out how to get there as I do not
know any street names and such, thus making it difficult to find out
where the buses are going without a visual map.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Chris Fox

Vacancies at Valencia Airport

Hi Diana,

The Spanish Airport Aurthority (Aena) control all the airport vacancies. You can contact them either via email at e-mail: vlc_informacion@aena.es or telephone 902 404 704.

Hope you manage to find something, but be warned that Spanish companies are notoriously bad at replying to job applications so you will have to keep on pestering them!

Linda

Dear Gary
I would like to know if you are able to give me any information or advise on how I would find out about any job vacancies at Valencia airport.
I have been a travel agent for nearly 9 years and at present only speak basic Spanish but I am looking to start another course in the very near future to improve my language skills.
I own a property only 25 minutes from Manises airport in Valencia and we are looking to live there permantely in the very near future.
The work does'nt neccesarily need to be in the 'sales department' of travel, I am happy to look at any other work, car hire, duty free, anything available.
I look forward to your reply

kind regards

Car Hire in Valencia

Linda

Thank you so much for your help

Teresa

Hi Teresa,

I can sympathise - the Spanish drivers terrify me!

We work with a company called Cartrawler who have a number of local car hire firms on their database which they match your requirements against. You can make the request that you collect the car from a rental agency south of the city and they should be able to provide details. Valencia Airport has a metro station, buses and taxis outside the arrivals terminal which all connect to the city. You can get further details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport.html. And you can contact Cartrawler at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

Linda

Good Afternoon

I am travelling to Teulada Moraira in early September and will be flying to Valencia.

I have made this trip through Valencia on a number of occasions but always as a passenger rather than a driver. I am anxious about driving through the city on this trip, on a previous visit we missed the correct exit and found it quite difficult to get back on course.

Do you provide a service where I could pick up a hire-car some place south of the city and also what are the options for connecting with such a pick up point (do I get a taxi)?

I would be very grateful for your assistance.

Thank you

Long term parking at Valencia Airport

Fabulous, thanks Linda.

Hi again Ann,

The blogger worked! We have been contacted by a company who do off airport parking. You can contact them at http://www.transfersdirect.co.uk/

Linda

Hi again Ann,

None that I know of. I'll publish your message on the blogger to see if any of the readers there know of off airport parking facilities.

Linda

Linda, thanks for your reply. I take it that there is no "off" airport long term parking at Valencia then, like there is at Alicante??

Hi Ann,

I'm afraid €13.55 per day for the first four days is the charge for P4 which is the long term parking at Valencia Airport. From the fifth day onwards it does reduce to €5.40 per day.

Linda

I am trying to find out if there are any long term car parks at Valencia Airport. I dont want to have to leave my care at the airport at euro 14 a day!

Lost luggage at Valencia

Hi Linda

Thank you for replying, I’ll try that. Fingers crossed I’m one of the lucky people that manage to get their luggage back!
Hi Linda

Thank you for replying, I’ll try that. Fingers crossed I’m one of the lucky people that manage to get their luggage back!

Hi Amy,

I don't know if you've been watching the UK news but lost luggage is up something like 25% this year worldwide. Which does nothing to help your current situation I know, but it does mean that they are better geared up to return it to the unfortunate passengers.

There is no lost luggage number at Valencia, but I know that Ryanair and Easyjet operate to Stansted so it's best if you ring their handling agents at the airport here. The numbers are Ryanair: +34 961 518 515 and Easyjet use a company called Harsant Air on +34 961 544 300 or fax +34 961 544 262. You will need to be very persistent as I know the airports are stretched to their limits at the moment and a lot of temporary staff are currently employed: so if you ring and someone is unable to help you it is worth ringing back later in the day and speaking to someone else.

Hope you manage to locate your bag.

Linda

Hi Gary

Can you please help? Yesterday I flew back from Valencia to London Stansted and my luggage never turned up. I reported it in Stansted and apparently there are over half a dozen suitcases missing from my flight and have found that some have been found still in Valencia. I was told it will take time to find out if this is the case with my luggage. Is there any one that I can talk to in Valencia airport about this please? I don't know what else to do, all I want is my stuff back.

Kind regards

Amy Wetherell

Getting from Denia to Valencia

Thanks for all your help Linda.

Hi again Sue,

The only other way I can find of getting to Valencia is via the tram from Denia to Alicante - details at http://www.fgv.es/fgv/htmleng/lineas/lineas.htm and then get the Renfe train to Valencia - details at http://www.fgv.es/fgv/htmleng/lineas/lineas.htm

This is a very roundabout way of getting to the airport and I would be reluctant to try it out when trying to catch a flight. Sorry can't give you better news.

Linda

Thank you for your help Linda.

Is there an alternative cheaper route I could take that would get me to the airport in good time. So sorry to keep asking you questions!

Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

In my experience Spanish taxis offer a good service and they are not metered so you can confirm the cost at the beginning of your journey. The distance between Denia and Valencia is 113km and will cost in the region of €140-150.

Linda

Thanks for your help Linda.

Would you know approximately how much a taxi would cost from Denia to Valencia Airport and if they are reliable and safe?

Many thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

As you will see from this link there is only one bus a day which gets you into Valencia Airport at 10.30 which is leaving it a bit late to check in and catch your flight (unless you have on line check in) http://www.alsa.es/VentaParticulares/contenidoHorarios.jsp?aeropuertos=S

Linda

Hi Gary

I will be staying in a villa in Pedreguer with friends from 29 August to 1st September. The nearest resort to us is Denia and I would like to know about bus services from Denia to Valencia airport on 1st September. My flight leaves Valencia at 1125.

Would you be kind enough to let me know details. Your advice and repose would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Getting from Valencia to Castellon

Hi Chris,

Well you're right, the last RENFE train is at 21.30 and the last metro from the centre of Valencia is at 22.00 so both of them are out. I've checked the bus timetables and there is nothing heading that way, so your only option is a taxi which will cost about €85 or hire a car which should be the cheaper option. You can get a competitive quote at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

I've checked with the airport just to see if they are putting any extra transport on for the festival but drew a blank again, I'm afraid.

Regards,

Linda

Hello Gary

We are due to get into Valencia Airport on 18th July (for Benicassim Festival) at 21.40. We've noticed the last train to Castellon from the airport seems to be at 21.30 - could you recommend the easiest and cheapest way to get to Castellon at that time of night please? We are staying at Jaime I Hotel.

Any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Valencia Airport Trains

Hi Catherine,

Don't think you'll make the 15.05 train, but you never know your flight might be a bit early. There is now a metro station at Valencia Airport with trains running to the Renfe Station. For full details on routes, how to book, etc, follow this link http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport-trains.htmlIf you do have to wait untl the 20.05 then at least you are in Valencia which is a great city.

Hope you have a good time. Linda

Left lugage at Valencia Airport

Passport stamping

Hi Virginia,

Presumably they travelled here from the States as I have never seen a European passport stamped at any Spanish Airport.

As long as they have their tickets as proof of entry date when they leave Spain this should be adequate. The Spanish Airport authorities can be a bit hit and miss with immigration I'm afraid.

Hope they have a good trip.

Linda

Hi Gary,
My daughter and grandson arrived in Valencia Spain yesterday and she discovered today that their passports were not 'stamped' at the Valencia airport. Will this be a problem for them when it is time for them to leave Valencia?

I would surely appreciate your response. Thank you.

Cost of taxi from Valencia to Benicassim

Hi Sarah,

Well it's about a 96km journey, and as a rough guide Spanish taxis comes out at about €1 per km so with my maths that makes it about €96-€100. Unfortunately there are no late shuttle buses.

Spanish taxis have a book of set rates so make sure you get a price from the driver before you set off.
Regards,

Linda

Hi GaryYou seem like a very helpful guy...so can I please ask - do you possibly know how much a taxi from Valencia to Benicassim will cost (approx)? Two friends and I arrive at Valencia airport just before 9pm from London, and so I expect we will miss the last train at 9.30pm! Or are there perhaps any shuttle buses that run later at night than the trains? Thanks,Sarah

Valencia to Gandia and Moraira

Hi Ben,

If you click on to http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport-trains.html it will give you all the information on Valencia trains and also the links to click on for the metro and RENFE train to Gandia.

There is also a new bus service from the airport to the Costa Blanca via Gandia and details can be obtained on http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport-buses.html where you can link on the bus company's website for further details if necessary. The timetable seems a bit limited so it may also be worth your also looking into the cost of a private transfer as the company we use can provide a mini bus. you can get a quote at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport-transfers.html

Hope you manage to sort something out.

Regards

Linda

Hi Gary,

I was wondering whether it is possible to get the Metro to Valencia del Nord train station.
As we are a group of 9 trying to get to Moraira and we believe the best way is via train

If you have any additional advice it would be welcome.

Valencia Airport car hire

Hi Nick,

All of the car hire firms which operate out of Valencia are estabilshed and reputable companies and it's virtually impossible to recommend one above another. To save you ringing round to get cost comparisons if you visit http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html a company called Cartralwer will do this for you.

If you want to avoid the queues when collecting the cars then it's probably best not to go for the cheapest options!

Long term car parking at Valencia

I'm afraid long term parking costs at Valencia are not cheap at €12.35 per day for the first four days and €4.95 per day from the fifth day - but it is slightly cheaper than P1.

Linda

Hi Gary,Please let me know where the long term car park is. We recently spent a week in Ibiza and parked in P1 at Valencia airport. The cost was €80 - is there a cheaper option such as at Alicante? Thank youKathy

Indirect flight Valencia to Gibraltar via Madrid

Please could you advise me re check in times for my flight from Valencia to Madrid, I have purchased a ticket to Gibralter and have to change at Madrid, will my luggage go straight through to Gibralter or will I have to re claim it in Madrid? I do not speak Spanish so would appreciate some advice, Many Thanks, Maureen

My Reply...

Hi Maureen

Apologies for the delays i coming back to you.

Your luggage may go all the way through, it depends who you are flying with. If its BA or Iberia or a combination of these two then I am sure it will. If not then you will ahve to coolect it and check in again!

Madrid Airport Staff are very good at speaking English and I am 99% sure all the signs are in English.

Hope all goes well.
