Out of hours car hire at Menorca Airport

Hi Katie,

Most of the car hire companies have special collection points for arrivals outside normal opening hours. You can telephone Hertz at Menorca at +34 971 354 092 and ask them what provision they make for this. Their normal hours of operation are Monday-Sunday 07:00-23:00

If you are not happy with what they offer if it worth getting an online quote with a company called Cartrawler who hold a central database of car hire companies at Menorca Airport which they will match your requirements against and come up with a competitive quote.

Linda

Hello Gary,

I am hoping you will be able to help me …… my boyfriend and I will be flying to Menorca on Monday 15th Sept on an easyjet flight from LGW that is due in at 21.45. I have found a good car hire deal with Hertz on the internet but as I understand it, hertz closes at 23.00 and I am worried that if the flight is delayed, we will not arrive in time to collect our car?

Are you able to confirm what would happen in that circumstance or advise of a company within the airport that stays open for longer that would be a safer option?

Thank you very much in advance Gary!

Kind regards,

Katie

Many thanks for your help Linda,
Paula

Hi Paula,

You can take tinned and pre-packed foodstuffs into Menorca as long as they are in your hold baggage and you do not try and carry them through in your hand luggage.

Linda

Hi Gary,

Please can you advise if there any restrictions on taking tinned fish/meat into Menorca. (for a family self catering holiday)

Many thanks in advance for any advise,

Paula

ATMs at Menorca Airport

Thanks very much Linda.

Hi Andrew,

There is a Servired (La Caixa) bank in the arrivals hall opposite the luggage carousels at Menorca Airport which you can use is your card has the Plus, Cirrus, Visa, MasterCard, or EuroCard symbol on it. You will find ATMs at banks in all the resorts on Menorca.

Linda

Hi Gary

Can you tell me if there is an ATM in the airport that accepts British bank account withdrawal cards? Also, do you know if similar ATMs can be found in most resorts like Son Bou?

Andrew

Passport validity for Menorca

Hi Diana,

As long as it does not expire until after you return to the UK then you will be OK.

Linda

Hi

We're travelling to Menorca next year and our son's passport expires 2 days after we return to the UK. Will this be sufficient or should we renew?

Thank you for your help.

Pram hire and supermarkets in Menorca

Hi again Jo,

There are several supermarkets in Cala Blanca so you will be OK for shopping. You can also find out where and when the fresh food markets are held in Menorca by clicking on the link.

As far as buggy hire is concerned the only place I know of is Holiday Hires but they don't offer double ones as far as I can see. If you contact them they may be able to get hold of one for you.

Linda

Hi Linda
Thanks for your reply.
I will be travelling to cala blanca in september and we have hired a car so we could travel.
i am also travelling with 1 year old twins so i need a double buggy.

Many thanks

Jo

Transfer from Mahon to Cala'n Bosch

Hi Rita,

Sorry you have been having problems with the transfer.

The distance from the airport is about 60km so a taxi will cost you in the region of €80-90. Or the Transfer Store website seems to be working now and you can find your quote at http://search.transferstore.com/searchtransfers.aspx?action=airport&iata=MAH&r
=AF&cob=2&utm_source=AffiliateFuture&utm_campaign or you can telephone them on 0871 911 0030

You can get more details of the buses here http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/menorca-airport-buses.html

Linda

Hi Gary

Try to sort out a shuttle transfer on tuesday 16th October +-3.00pm to Paradise Club & Spa for 2 people, but the link to the Transfer Store does not work?

Do you have a telephone number where I could phone them to arrange?

Also, tried to work out bus timetable but that wasn't easy either. How often do buses go to Cala'n Bosch from airport.

Thanks very much

Transfers from Menorca Airport

Thank you Linda, it is very much appreciated.
I bet it is a lot warmer there than it is here today!
Karen

Hi Karen,

There is no problem getting taxis from Menorca airport (they queue up outside the arrivals hall) and you are better off getting a taxi when you land rather than pre-booking. You can check the fare with the driver before you set off (the taxis in Spain are not metered and fixed prices are written in a book they carry). It's only a 12km journey and should take you about 20 minutes. The cost of the taxi should be in the region of €18-20. Much quicker than waiting for all those pick ups and drop offs when your transfers are included!

Linda

Hi Gary

We are thinking of visiting Menorca.

We are also thinking of booking the holiday as a "non package" holiday, which I must admit I am nervous about, as normally our transfers are included within the holiday.

Would it be cheaper to book the taxi to Cala Galdana BEFORE we leave England or shall we wait until we arrive in Menorca?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Karen

PS - What sort of temperature is the weather at present? Suitable for lounging around by the pool?

Bringing medicines into Spain

Hi Patricia,

If you follow this link it gives you full details of what medication can be transported in your hand luggage http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/index.shtm If you can put this in your case in the hold then there is no problem at all. In any event, it looks like your husband's medication is safe to take into Menorca.

Linda

Gary
wonder if you can help.
We will be travelling to Mahon airport soon. My husband uses small amounts
of growth hormone which he takes using a diabetes syringe. The growth
hormone comes in a small bottle (less than 4ml) -Zomacton is the brand name.

Can you advise if there is any problem in bringing this into Menorca?
Many thanks

Patricia

Left luggage facilities at Menorca Airport

Unfortunately the Spanish Airports are notoriously bad for left luggage facilities and there are only two airports which offer these facilities - sadly Menorca is not one of them! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Linda

Hello Gary,

Nice site! We want to visit Menorca en camp somewhere. that's why we need to know if we can leave some of our luggage in a locker at the airport. Perhaps you can tell us if these lockers excist at Menorca Airport? You could be such a great help if you know this.

well anyways thanks a lot.

Flight connections between Barcelona and Menorca

Hi again Derek,

Right I'm with you now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The terminals are right next to one another at the airport so just follow the signs to terminal C where you will find the Iberia check in desks on the ground floor.

Hope you have a good trip

Linda

My original message was not clear regarding Terminals B & C. I was refering
to Barcelona airport. We arrive at Barcelona airport Terminal B and depart
to Menorca from Terminal C. How far is Terminal B to Terminal C at
Barcelona airport and where will we check in for our connecting flight to
menorca?
Regards

Derek

Hi Derek,

Under normal circumstances, and because Iberia is operating both flights
your luggage would be checked straight through, but because of the
constantly changing security arrangements I am afraid you will have you
will have to double check this with your airline.

Menorca is not a large airport and the terminals are right next to one
another,
so you will have no problems transferring across. Because terminal C is
only open during the high season to cope with the extra passenger traffic I
am afraid I am not sure where the check in desks are, but I have travelled
to that airport a number of times and it is very well signed.

Hope you have a good trip

Linda

Wheelchair hire in Menorca

Hi Cheryle,

I've checked everywhere I can think of for wheelchair hire and can find services just about everywhere in Spain and the Balearics except Menorca! Think you need to contact someone with more local and specialised island knowledge - and the tourist office at the airport is probably the best place to start. Their details are Menorca Airport Tourist Office Telephone: +34 971 157 115 E-mail: infomenorcaeroport@cime.es

Having pushed my own mother around in a wheelchair for several years I know how cumbersome they are to transport so I hope you manage to find somewhere who will rent one out.

Regards

Linda

Hi Gary
me and my family are due to visit Menorca on the 4 aug for 10 nts, unfortunately my mother is disabled and will require a wheelchair, do you have or do you know of a facility were we can rent one over there to save us bringing one over

Hi Belinda,

If you follow this link to the Spanish Airport Authority website http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?cid=1054822840435&pagename=Estandar%2FPage%2FAeropuerto&SMO=6&SiteName=MAH&c=Page&MO=1 it will give you a list of the countries served by Menorca and the airlines.

Regards

Linda

Hi Gary

I am having extreme difficulty finding an exhaustive list of availabledestinations on the european continent from Menorca airport. I've found one website that lists a few of the carriers (mainly Air Berlin) but i noticedfrom your site that companies also fly to Italian destinations but I can'tseem to find the airlines that do. Do you have this information available? I am primarily interested in Italy as I am trying to eventually get toSlovenia via anywhere close, from Menorca.RegardsBelinda Ivanovski

Flights Edinburgh to Menorca

Hi Garry,
I'm trying, rather unsuccessfully, to find a DIRECT flight from Edinburgh to Menorca (Minorca) early September.
Can you help?
Duration 7 days.
2 adults, one being semi-disabled thus necessitating a direct flight.
I'm not very good at Google searches so hope you can help.
Any thoughts about a hotel also appreciated .. must have ramp into swimming pool.
Await your response.
Regards
Claire

My Reply...

Hi Claire
There are not any low cost airlines like flyglobespan or easyjet that offer direct flights from Edinburgh.
The only flights are from charter companies so it may be worth going to your local travel agent.
You good also try first choice, tui those kind of companies who charter planes.
Good luck
Regards
Gary

A further request ... what other DIRECT flights are there to the Spanish coast from Edinburgh/
Haven't definitely decided on Minorca but will be influenced by flights .. and any hotels you can recommend.
Await your response.

Hi Claire
Hotels I cant recommend BUT for all direct flights just have a good look at this page
http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/flights-to-spain.html
Good luck

Petrol Station near Mahon Airport

Hi Gary

We are due to fly into Mahon airport about 10 pm in October and the car hired will not have a full tank of petrol. Is there a 24 hr petrol station near to the airport? We will be driving to Cala n Bosch.

Many thanks

Margaret

My Reply...

Hi Margaret
I am not 100% sure if there is a petrol station at the airport.
If you ask your car hire company I am sure that they will provide a map to the nearest one. Thats what they did for me at Barcelona the other week.
If you remeber can you let me know how you get on.
Good luck
