Getting to Zahara de los Atunes

Hi again David,

You can fly into Gibraltar with Monarch Airlines from Luton and Easyjet Airlines from Gatwick and into Jerez from London Stansted with Ryanair If you click on the links you can get more information on timetables and prices.

Zaraha de los Atunes is 110km from Jerez Airport and about a 1 hour 30 minute drive and 84km from Gibraltar (about a 1 hour and 10 minute drive) - both are on motorways so there is very little in it. If you want to hire a car from Gibraltar Airport you have to cross the border into La Linea (about a 10 minute walk) and hire it from there. Of you can get a free online quote for car hire from Jerez Airport here.

Both airports have good motorway connections to Tarifa and Zahara de los Atunes and if you have driven in Menorca you should not find driving too difficult here.

I think at the end of the day your decision will come down to which flights are most convenient ones for you.

Linda

Hi Linda

Luton, Stansted & Gatwick are all relatively conveniet for us. We would probably opt for Gatwick as this is more likely to give us the morning flights we perfer& is usaully less expensive..

Regards

David

Hi David,

Which airport are you flying from in the UK?

Linda

Gary

Just found your site & some great information,

We are looking to travel to Zahara de los Atunes. Most sites advise using Jerez Airport but Gibralta seems much nearer. Can you advise which is more practical and what is the driving like for the european novice, my only previous experience is on Menorca.

Thanks

Getting from Jerez to Rota

Hi Ferah,

Rota is 48km from Jerez Airport (about a 45 minute drive) and a taxi (which will take up to 4 people) will cost you in the region of €70 single fare.

There are no trains into Rota, and another option is to book a seat on a private shuttle bus from Jerez Airport to Rota or you can get a bus from Rota to Jerez

Linda

Dear Gary

I saw your address on the net and would be grateful if you could please let me know how I can get from Jerez airport to the resort of Rota on the Costa De La Luz.

Many thanks

Taxis from Jerez Airport

Hi Andrea,

The taxis should be no more than 20 euros eachway, its only around 10 minutes to the City centre! Buses are an option now aswell...cheap and easy

I like Jerez and I love using the airport, its small and quick...

Hope you enjoy,

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,

Saw your website and wondered if you could help

Am travelling to Jerez in September with Ryanair and am staying in the city centre. Not hiring a car but have most of my "trips" sorted out which will either by by bus or train. However, not sorted out the question of taxis from the airport. Read somewhere that they are a "rip off" which prompted me to look at the Jerez Airport Shuttle - that is coming out at around £60 return for the two of us. Wondered what you would recommend and are the taxis reliable and not too expensive.

thank you in anticipation of your help.

Flights into France from Spain

Hi Jo,

The nearest airport to Gibraltar is Jerez but no flights to Paris operate from there. Your next option is to get to Malaga where you can fly into Charles de Gaulle with the following airlines: Vueling, Easyjet, Air France, Air Transat and Air Europa.

Linda

Hi Gary,
There are no direct flights from Paris de Gaule airport to Gibraltor so can you suggest an airport that is nearby that I could fly to direct from Paris.
Any ideas?

Getting from Jerez Airport to Vejer de la Frontera

Hi Linda

You can find out details of the various buses operating from Jerez Airport at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/jerez-airport-buses.html

Linda

I can't see any public transport links on any of the timetables. It's an 80km journey so a taxi will cost around €100-€110 single fare.

Travelling from Jerez to La Linea

Hi Peter,

There are no direct trains or buses from Jerez to La Linea so I presume you will be hiring a car. It's a 118km journey which is mostly motorway and will take you about an hour and a half to drive. If you follow this link it will give you driving directions: http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/int/dyn/controller/ItiWGPerformPage?ie=utf-

Cost of transfer or taxi from Jerez to Rota

Hi Alan,

It's a 40km journey from Jerez to Rota so a normal taxi will cost around €55-60 for both of you which is a slightly cheaper option.

Linda

We are looking for a transfer on Thursday 31st January for 2 people.

We have looked at the shuttle web site which quotes £32 per person which we think is very expensive.
£32 for two would be reasonable!

Can you please suggest an alternative.

Many thanks,

Alan Wood

Getting from Jerez to Conil de la Frontera

Hi Tony,

You can get the last train from the centre of Jerez to Cadiz - details of timetables at http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/cadiz/index_horarios.html but then you have a 48km journey to Conil de la Frontera (there is no station there) which wil cost you around €60. A taxi from Jerez Airport to Conil is a 73km journey and will cost about €90.

Or if your flight is on time you should be able to get the last bus from the airport to Cadiz - details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/jerez-airport-buses.html

I don't know how many of you there are, but by the time you have paid bus and train fares and a taxi from Cadiz I would just get a taxi the whole way. Or you can get a quote for hring a car (which would be the cheapest option of all) at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

Linda

Gary

We arrive in Jerez airport at 20:30 and need to travel to Conil de la Frontera, near Cadiz could you please advise the best method to use, taxi, bus, train and what the approx cost would be.

Found your web site very useful, thanks very much.

Long term car parking outside Jerez Airport

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that. Although we're based in Spain we obviously aren't at all the airports all of the time so this sort of information is invaluable.

Hope you have a successful trip later this year.

Linda

Hi Gary
As a frequent traveller to Spain, I found your website very helpful. For those who might be interested, details and pricing for Olof Park long term car parking outside of Jerez airport can be found on jerez@olofpark.com.
The information is available in Spanish, German, Swedish & English.
I haven't used the car park yet but intend to later this summer when I eventually buy a car for our property in Ronda.

Travelling from Jerez to Faro

Hi Naomi,
You can get a train from Jerez to Seville (which will be quicker than the bus). They run very regularly and you can get timetable details on www.renfe.es And then a bus runs from Seville to Faro twice daily. Details at http://www.damas-sa.es/cgi-local/busca.pl
Unfortunately I don't know of any hotels in Seville which i can recommend, but you can get some guidance from Area Hotels at http://www.sevilla-hoteles.com/
Thanks for your kind wishes and hope the above is helpful
Linda

Hey Gary,
Found your website through Google. It was useful to read some of your
answers to peoples questions. My parents have a house in Olvera near to
Jerez, Cadiz. I am flying into that airport for a stay in August and then
travelling somehow to Portugal, Praia da Luz to my boyfriends brother then
travelling back to Edinburgh from Faro airport after a coupleof weeks there.
Do you think the best course of travel would be from Seville to Faro airport
by bus and get piked up from there to my destintation? Also do you know if
this is the best option, any good, cheap accomodation in Seville. I know
this may be a little off your general questions but any help would be
useful.
All the best with the website,
Naomi

Jerez to Gibraltar

Hi again Nicola,

I've only ever passed through Jerez and not stayed there so can't give a recommendation based on personal experience, but I have just written an area guide to Jerez at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/jerez-airport-area-guide.html which gives you some general information on the city and where the best beaches are. We also have some information on hotels at http://www.alpharooms.com/default.aspx Hopefully all this will help point you in the right direction.

It's a really beautiful part of Spain so wherever you choose I am sure you will have a good time.

Regards,

Linda

Thanks Linda, I don't suppose you could help us again. My husband has ameeting in Gib on the Friday we thought we would fly into Jerez on the Thursday evening and spend a couple of days there with the kids. Can yourecommend a resort?Nicola

Hi Nicola, >>It's about an hour and 30 minutes drive. If you are planning on crossing the Gib border this is the unknown>quantity, as at this time of the year the queues can be horrendous. Taxi from Jerez Airport to Puerto Duquesa

Hi

I dont know if you can help me but i wondered how much a taxi from Jerez airport spain to Peurto Dequesa would be?! Your help would be much appreciated :)
x

My Reply...

Hi Keith,

Jerez is a great airport to fly into as it can be so cheap but if you dont drive it can work out expensive on taxis and the public transport isnt that great.

You can findmore information out on www.googlemaps.com but I think its about 130 kms. We normally work on 1 euro per km plus a little extra.

YOu can find more info and questions here about buses from Jerez to Algeciras etc

Tarifa to Jerez Airport

Hi I am coming back from Morocco via Tarifa and then flying back from Jerez - any advice on getting back to the airport would be great - your notes last year suggest you have to get a taxi from Tarifa to Alercircas then get a bus to Jerez town, then to the airport - is this still correct or are there direct buses from Tarifa?
If not how much would a taxi cost all the way from Tarifa to Jerez Airport?

Hi Leila
This information still stands as far as I am concerned.
A taxi from Tarifa to Jerez would be about €125 as a rough guide.
Good luck

Airports near Nerja

Looking for information
Hola Gary,
You live in my country and I live in yours, well, I live in Ireland, are you Irish or English?
Well, my consultation is this: I'm planning to go to Nerja (Málaga) around middle May, just for a long weekend. I have been searching flights to Malaga but they seem to be quite expensive traveling Friday to Monday and even Thursday to Sunday and to Málaga city.
As my final destination is Nerja, which airport do you recommend me to fly to; Jerez, Sevilla ..?? How far are those cities to Nerja. I will probably rent a car for those days but also (as I don't know the area) I would not like driving very long time.
Thank you for your help. I've found your web site very handy as well.
Gracias y un saludo,

My reply...

English Living in Spain!!!
Jerez No!.. you could but quite far. Would be about 3 hours driviing I think. Its 90 minutes from Marbella and Nerja is about another 90!
Seville you could get a train down on the RENFE or drive 2 hours.
Try looking at Granada Airport about 100km from Nerja although no direct flights. YOu could fly to Stanstead and then change. onto Ryan Air.
Flights are expensive at the weekend, have a look at www.thomsonfly.com too! Sometimes they are cheap.
Also have a look at www.googlemaps.com You can get good maps and routes.

Creo que te he ayudado!

buen viaje

From Jerez Airport to Seville

Dear Gary,

I am hoping to stay in Seville in June, currently the best option of getting there for me is to fly to Jerez and get either a bus / train to Seville from there.. Do you have any idea if this is a lot of hassle, if it is costly and how long it would take etc?

Any help would be appreicatiated.

Edel Higgins

My Reply...

Hi Edel,
Its only about 40 minutes by car from Jerez to Seville. A taxi would be expensive... 50 euros.
Plenty of buses but difficult to get precise information, head for the main bus terminal from the airport and there should be a bus every hour or so. Cost no more than 5 / 10 euros.
Trains are also a good option, again you need to get from the airport to the main train station. Here is the website for the trains .. www.renfe.es.
Trains seem to run throughout the day and it costs between 5 / 15 euros.
Good luck
Gary

Left Luggage at Jerez Airport

Dear Gary
My husband and I are planning to fly from Jerez Airport back to Stansted, England, in September.
The flight is in the evening (about 9.00pm).
However, we have to check out of our apartment at 10.00am.
We will have a hire car and would like to return the car to the airport in the morning, get the bus back into Jerez and spend the day looking round Jerez before getting the bus back to the airport in the evening for our flight.
However, what do we do with our luggage?
It will be far too early to check in for our flight.
Is there any facility at the airport for storing your luggage (safely) for a few hours?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely

Lucinda

My Reply...

There are no luggage stores at Jerez as yet. I think the earliest you can check in is 2 hours before

You may be better keeping hold of your car.

Regards

Joanne

Many thanks
We will make arrangements to keep the car for the whole day (even thought it will just be in the airport car park!)

How many miles from Jerez to Estepona

Hi
Please can you tell me show many miles Jerez Airport is from estapona or is malaga airport a better choice.

Thanks

My Reply...

In Kms Malaga is Nearer but the road is much nicer drive from Jerez plus also, the airport is much smaller so you get out quicker and although the drive may be slightly longer, you may get to your location quicker than if you land at Malaga.

You can read more about Our Flight from Jerez here

Jerez airport to Chiclana

Hi Gary
I need idiot proof driving directions from Jerez airport to Cerromolino, an urbanisation near Chiclana, it will be my first time driving in Spain and due to flight times will also be in the dark, please help if possible !!

Thankyou.

My Reply...

Have you tried www.googlemaps.com
Put in Jerez. Then go to directions and put in chiclana to jerez. Then a map and driving directions come up. Its normally quite good, although we did find a mistake once when using it which did cost our friends 2 hours more in the car.

We have driven from Jerez to Marbella and there were numerous signs for chiclana.

If not happy with google directions, you could post a question on www.britishexpats.com and go to spain. People are generally really helpful and the locals will definately know the best routes.
