Hi Paul,

It's very early days yet, but if you follow this link it gives you the latest situation and the developers website http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/castellon-airport.html

As far as working there is concerned, you will need to contact Aena (the Spanish Airport Authority) at nearer the completion time at portalempleo@aena.es

Latest news on Castellon Airport

Hi Zanek,

Follow is the latest information we have:

"We have just received a report from one of our readers who has just got back from this area (October 2007). They drove all round the airport perimeter fence and two large cranes are now in place to commence building and car park area is clearly outlined and levelled. There are also signs up at J44 AP7 announcing new link road - C13 - to airport. This has not started yet but there is some work nearer to airport site up the road from Torreblanca. So maybe it is happening!

Stop press: We have just head that the project for Corvera has been delivered to the regional government and should be with the Development Ministry in early December. The Murcia government's public works chief, has confirmed that the project for the new Murcia International Airport has now been delivered to the regional government, and is expected to be sent on to the Development Ministry at the beginning of next month. He said it appears likely that construction could start in the first quarter of 2008, for completion at the beginning of 2010.

The contract to build and manage the new airport was signed at the end of July: awarding the 40 year management concession to the Aeromur S.A. consortium. The Murcia President announced at the time that Castellon will have an initial annual operating capacity of 1.5 million passengers to increase up to 5.2 million by 2015."

Any more news on the Villa Nova Airpot?

Update on Corvera Airport

Hi Donna,

It's very difficult to predict when or if the Spanish are going to do something. The latest article I can find on it is dated March 2006 as follows : "Corvera International Airport will be operational from 2009, according to the regional President of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, who says it will be used by one and a half million passengers during its first year of operation, although that is expected to triple in the short to mid term. The Development Ministry approved the project for the Murcia-Corvera Airport on Wednesday, which defines its general guidelines and sets out the area needed for each separate activity, including future expansion.

The total area will be 300 hectares, with a runway of 3,000 metres. It will have five hangars, and will be able to handle seven flights every hour.
Valcárcel has confirmed that building work should start in 2007, and will take around two years to complete. The draft project for the airport is expected to be approved this May, and the building work put out to tender in the autumn. It will cost 107 million euros to build, with investment of another 46 million to extend the facilities once the 1.5 million passenger target has been reached. "

The contract has now been awarded and you can find out more at http://www.gruposyv.com/vallehermoso/Door?OPERATION=utils
&FUNCTION=download&ID=/gestion/gestorAcc_noticias_en/20/aeropmurciaING.pdf and they are now saying it will be operational in 2010. As far as I am aware no work has started there yet so you can probably add a couple of years to that, but at least it looks as if it is going ahead.

Sorry not to have better news.

Linda

Hi Gary
I wonder if you have any information on the following with you living in the costa del sol.

We bought a property off plan three years ago for 160,000 euro's 4 bedroom link detached villa, to cut a long story short it never had the proper go ahead so to date it still hasn't started.
A new company have now took over and have assured us of a january 08 starting date, the problem is the revised price is now 195,000 euro's.
They are saying they are selling now for 210 and they are doing us a favour of first refusal for existing clients. Which i know is rubbish.
They say that this new airport will definetly go ahead and therefore will put even more money on the villa.
Could you just let me know what you think?

regards

Donna Godsall

Update on Corvera Airport

Hi Sue,

There is still no physical movement on this as far as we are aware. Plans are still in for submission and no major building works have yet started. It is meant to be completed in 2009. If you follow this link it seems to have the latest situation http://www.imagesl.com/corvera/4521506933

Linda

Hi Gary

Have you any up-to-date news about Corvera airport? We know that the tender has been awarded, but have they started any of the work and/or given a new completion date?

Thanks for your help.

Latest on Corvera Airport Murcia

Thanks very much Linda

Hi Derek,

There is very little information available on this airport. It all seems to have gone very quiet but as far as I know building work is still going ahead this year, but it will not be operational until 2009. This is information I have extracted from government sources and not estate agents so it is probably as accurate as it can be!

But knowing how long it is taking to sort Malaga Airport out I would add another year to that!

Linda

Hello Gary,
Can you let me know if you have heard when the new airport ( Corvera) in Murcia is due to be opened. We were told it would be up and running in 2008.
Best regards Derek Gage

Covera Airport flight path

Hi Pauline,

This is a bit of a tricky one because even if you manage to get detailed plans there is no guarantee that they will not change as planning in Spain is a bit precarious. The only suggestions I can make is that you email the local council at http://www.ayto-corvera.es/ to see if they can supply anything or contact the Spanish Airport Authority at www.aena.es to see if they can help.

Good luck with it

Linda

Gary do you know or do you have any idea where I can find out where the flight path of planes will be for this new airport. We are considering buying property in San Cayetado which is in a direct line with Corvera.

Thanks

Pauline

Corvera Airport

Hi Gary

I have enjoyed your website. Its a bit of a long shot but can you tell me if you have any further information about whether Corvera Airport will definately get the go-ahead? I have searched and searched but there seems to be no concrete start dates and completion dates available. I have read several different years of completion dates (from 2006 to 2009) and even heard it is still not guaranteed to go ahead.

I dont suppose you have heard anything on the grape vine? I would be most grateful if you could let me know any further information. I have a property in the region hence my interest.

Thank you for your time!

Kind regards,

S

My Reply...

Hi S
No other info other than whats on the site I am afraid.
Things have a habit of doing this in Spain. This either means that its a no goer OR all of a sudden there will be a lot of work and it will be built in no time!
If you hear anything let me know
Regards
Gary

Hi Gary

Thank you for your email. Yes - if I hear anything I will let you know straight awy so you can put it on your website.

Many thanks!

S
