Ibiza Local Attractions

Ibiza has earned a reputation as a party island, and is the closest Balearic Islands to mainland Spain with a 200km stretch of coastline which is full of small coves with over fifty beaches.

But there is much to the island than the club scene as it is a beautiful place to stay with hillsides covered with olive, almond and fig groves, salt lakes, pine forests and many historic buildings and attractions. The surrounding hills are covered with old stone cottages which are great to walk around and explore.

The capital Ibiza town is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Europe with a spectacular cathedral, excellent restaurants and tapas bars. The old part of the town is called “Dalt Vila” full of winding street with bazaars and artisan shops, while “La Calle Barcelona” is the central point of the nightlife which is based around the Port.

If you are planning to explore the area outside of the city centre and play some golf or go to some of the more out of the way beaches then you might consider hiring a car. There are a number of car hire firms based at Mahon Airport who will be pleased to have a vehicle awaiting your arrival. This also cuts down on transfer costs for you and your family.
