Car Hire at Granada Airport

When driving around in Spain it is worth remembering that as a general rule you may not park where the curb is painted yellow or where a no parking sign is displayed. In the major cities and popular resorts non-metered on-street parking can be difficult to find. If there are parking spaces marked in blue you should purchase a ticket from a nearby machine on the pavement or an attendant. These spaces are usually for about a maximum of two hours.  Parking penalties vary from town to town and can be heavy. If you park illegally you might well become acquainted with the 'grua' which is local the tow truck.

If you are unlucky enough to fall victim to this you will probably return to your car to find a sticker left in its place on the curb with the telephone number/address of the car pound. Getting it back can cost you dearly in fines and fees so you should obviously avoid this and where possible look for underground parking with security attendance: it really is worth paying that little bit more in the long run.

But you will notice that despite this advice the Spanish will park wherever their car comes to a halt on and this includes crossings, pavements and roundabouts.  To improve this situated new laws were introduced in 2005 which mean that licence penalty points can now be given to drivers parking illegally
