How is the weather generally
The wind, the Gulf Stream, the relief and geographical latitude
determine the climate of the volcanic island of Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria’s weather is mild with pleasant temperatures which are rarely too high and almost always constant. Because it is a mountainous island where trade winds prevail all year round, it offers a wide variety of microclimates that vary from subtropical to continental.
The average temperatures in the summer months range between 26 ºC and 28 ºC (79 – 82 °F), often exceeding 30 °C (86 °F), and in the winter months between 22 ºC and 24 ºC.
Sometimes you can see snow on the highest mountain peaks, and just a few kilometres away you will experience both tropical temperatures and extreme cold.
The high season on Gran Canaria is during the UK's winter months from October to May and it is therefore a wonderful place to get some sun when England is at its coldest and wettest.
