Gran Canaria Departures

Gran Canaria Airport departures hall handles between 9 and 9.5 million passengers each year and this is Spain's fifth busiest airport.

Once you are in the Gran Canaria departures hall you will be faced with a bank of 86 check in desks, 52 of the check in desks are reserved for dealing with flights to and from EU countries. The remaining 34 check in desks are for Inter Canary Island flights and and non-European Union international flights All the destinations are clearly indicated on the information screens at the terminal entrance.

Once you have checked in be sure to proceed to the correct departure lounge. Zone A is for all EU flights and is coloured pink and marked Zone A: Zone B is for departures of international flights to non-European countries and coloured green and Zone C is for inter island flights and non EU flights and coloured orange.

Departures take place from the first floor where passengers should proceed to the check-in desk of the airline company to obtain a boarding card and check their luggage in.

The airport has 38 boarding gates, organised into Zones A, B and C. In these zones there are 27, 6 and 8 gates respectively. Zones B and C share 3 boarding gates.

Each of the departure areas at Gran Canaria Airport have a selection of bars, cafes and restaurants for you to spend time at with the EU flights getting the greatest choice. There is also a good selection of Gran Canaria airport shops to look around. Please remember that your duty free allowances in Gran Canaria are not the same as the rest of Spain.

If you have booked a private Gran Canaria transfers then your driver will drop you off in the correct place as will any Gran Canaria taxi driver. Gran Canaria airport buses have two drop off areas: one outside Zone A and the other outside Zone B & C.
