How is the weather generally
Positioned at the tip of southern Spain with Tangiers just a short
ferry ride away and Malaga a two hour drive along the Andalucian
coastline , Gibraltar enjoys all year round sunshine tempered by
the cool breezes from North Africa. Two winds embrace The Rock, each
bringing different meteorological characteristics. The first comes
from the east and brings a humidity factor that sometimes covers
the top of the rock with cloud, and the second from the west brings
clear and dry weather
The Gibraltar climate is typically Mediterranean with mild winters and warm dry summers, although May to September can get very hot and humid even with the breeze off the Atlantic. There is no rainy season, with most rain falling in the winter months when the average temperature is 59°F (15°C). In summer the temperatures hover around 86°F (30°C).
During the summer Gibraltar averages 10.5 hours of sunshine a day, and on average, only 30% of days are classified as ‘wet’. The mild temperature of the water in makes it ideal for swimmers and divers.
If you are travelling to Gibraltar during winter months pack for
lows of around 13º C and highs that could reach 18ºC.
Spring typically sees average temperatures of between 18 and 21ºC
It is uncommon for The Rock to enjoy up to 90 days without rain
during the summer months, when lows might reach 13ºC but on
most days the temperature will hover much nearer the area's 30ºC
highs
Like neighbouring Southern Spain, as autumn sets in the temperatures are at their best ranging between 18-26ºC
