Gibraltar Airport is not technically in Spain I know but a lot of people visiting the western edge of the Costa del Sol or the Costa de La Luz use Gibraltar Airport. There have also been some long and deep discussions between the Spanish and UK Governments about Gibraltar with the Spanish keen to have some kind of use of the airport.

The only nuisance about flying into Gibraltar is that you then have to walk or drive over the border into Spain and then continue your journey from there. Driving can take forever, it depends on what mood the Spanish customs guys are in! Walking shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

In fact the walk from the aircraft to the Spanish side of the border is probably shorter than the walk from the plane at Malaga Airport to luggage hall!

British Airways, Monarch and Easyjet all offer flights to Gibraltar from the UK.

We have provided information on flights from: Gatwick to Gibraltar - Luton to Gibraltar - Madrid to Gibraltar plus Monarch Airlines are flying from Manchester to Gibraltar three days a week with effect from 12th September.

A new airline, FlyGibraltar, was due to start operating direct flights to London Stansted, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Dublin (28 return flights a week), but they were not able to raise and deposit the £10m insurance bond required by the Civil Aviation Authority for them to commence business. It is still hoped that the service will eventually go ahead, and as soon as we have any further information we will publish it here.

Taxis at Gibraltar Airport are always waiting for the flights and you will find them just outside the terminal building. When you arrive in Gibraltar you are treated to a magnificent first view of the Rock from the top of the airplane steps.
