The minimum age for driving in Spain (provided you hold a full UK licence) is 18 for a car and a motorcycle over 75cc. If you have still got one of the old style green licences you might find the police do not understand them, so it is advisable to either get it updated or carry an International Driving Permit as well.
As a general rule it is worth remembering that you can not park next to curb that has been painted yellow or where there is a no parking sign displayed. In the major cities and popular resorts finding on-street parking that is not metered or permit parking can be very difficult.
Parking spaces that are marked in blue generally indicate that you should purchase a ticket either from a nearby machine or an attendant. These usually have a maximum stay time of two hours which you should make sure of as parking penalties can be heavy. Those who decide to park illegally may well end up becoming acquainted with the 'grua', which is Spanish for the tow truck.
