How is the weather generally
La Coruna is in a rugged corner of Spain with much of the land
being over 500 metres above sea level. The climate is temperate
maritime and heavily influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. It does display
some characteristics of a Mediterranean climate, but the autumn
and winter are often unsettled and unpredictable with strong winds
and lots of rainfall between October and April caused by Atlantic
depressions. The Ocean and cloud cover does keep temperatures mild
and frost is very rare.
In the summer La Coruna is quite dry and sunny with only occasional
rainfall, and temperatures are warm but rarely uncomfortably hot
thanks to the sea's cooling influence. Spring is usually cool and
fairly calm.
