La Coruna Area Guide
The
province of La Coruna offers spectacular inland scenery, beautiful
beaches and coves with seaside towns and the historic city centre.
Most visitors ultimately get more enjoyment from renting a car and
hopping around from town to town visiting places like the magnificent
city of Santiago de Compostela, and the coastal towns of Noia, Muros
and Porto Sin. Or if you are a golfer, there are several excellent
courses in the immediate area.
La Coruna has definitely seen tourism take centre stage in recent years with its large port becoming a regular disembarking point on the cruise liner schedule. There are plenty of tourist information points, and guides and town maps are now becoming available in English, French and German.
Walking around the city you will notice how clean and tidy it is, and as you leave the old quarter and enter some of the newer areas the architectural theme of galerias (glass enclosed balconies) really gives La Coruna a unique and distinctive feel.
Local Attractions

Trajan, and the galeria (glass fronted) harbour buildings that
have given it the name “the glass city”.
