Bilbao Departures

The beautiful city and impressive Guggenheim Museum have encouraged the urban regeneration of Bilbao which was once an industrial city.

There are now a large number of domestic and international fights operating from Bilbao Airport which is just 12km outside the city and is well served by buses and taxis. See Bilbao airport transfers for more information. 

The following airlines sell tickets at Bilbao Airport:Air Berlin, Air Europa, Alitalia, Lufthansa, Iberia, Air France, EasyJet, Portugalia, SN Brussels, Spanair and Vueling airline companies and the Viajes Eroski travel agency issue tickets.

Situated on the top floor, the departures lounge can be accessed directly from the upper road via a 38 metre five lane bridge.  There are 36 check in desks arranged in the shape of a large fan, and once you have registered you pass into a large open service and shopping area. 

Past the security checkpoint is the pre-boarding zone, which is a 300 metre glass corridor on the south side of the terminal building which overlooks the entire airfield. This provides access to the mezzanine level which leads to the telescopic finger shaped remote boarding lounges on the ground floor.

There are twelve boarding gates. Gates 1 to 6 are equipped with fingers on the intermediate floor and gates 7 to 12 are on the ground floor,   Access to all the gates is gained via the top floor via five ramps.

Bilbao Airport has a number of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as duty-free outlets and shops selling cosmetics, electronics, clothing and books. Limited conference facilities are also available; contact the airport manager for further information (fax: 0034 944 869 776).
