Barcelona Airport Information
Barcelona Airport is the second busiest airport in Spain located 12km south-west of the city of Barcelona, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi just 3 km from the Port of Barcelona.
Since the Olympic Games were held, passenger traffic at Barcelona airport has increased by over 200%, growing from 10 million passengers in 1992 to over 27 million in 2009 when it handled 278,695 flight operations.
The airport has three modules operating in Terminal 2: sections A, B & C which are joined together by travelator walkways. You can see a plan of terminal 2 at Barcelona Airport by clicking on the link.
Terminal T2A is currently closed to the public and anyone checking in this zone should now do so in T2B. All companies that operate in T2 check in T2B, except EasyJet (and its subsidiary EasyJet Switzerland), which do so in T2C. Baggage will be checked-in at desks B1 to B43 and baggage reclaim will be in Arrivals in Hall B.
The closure of terminal T2A also involves closure of the car park opposite and the connecting bridge between the car park and the terminal, as well as of the over-ground car parks joined to the building. The bus stop for Aerobús A2 located opposite the T2A is also out of service.
The new 525,400 square metre Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 which opened earlier this year is a completely separate building some distance away which can be accessed via a shuttle service which runs every seven minutes as well as a bus service between the Renfe train station and the T1 terminal.
The journey time by shuttle bus and train between terminals 1 and 2 at Barcelona Airport is approximately 10 minutes.
In addition to the meeting points for passengers with reduced mobility, T1 has been specially designed to ensure that moving around is easy with 49 moving walkways, 26 mechanical ramps, 48 escalators and 125 lifts.
