How is the weather generally
Asturias is in north west Spain and is regarded as part of "Green
Spain" with a more varied climate than that of southern parts
of the country. The summers are generally humid and warm with lots
of sunshine, but also some rain. The winters are fairly mild but
with some very cold snaps, especially in the mountains where snow
is often present from November until May.
Both rain and sunshine are regular weather features of Asturian winters and annual rainfall is above 900 mm (35.4 in) throughout the region increasing as you travel inland reaching its peak in the Picos de Europa at 1800 mm (76 in). Average annual temperatures in the capital Oviedo average about 12.9ºC.
The best months for visiting are June to September when you should experience mild temperatures and clear blue skies.
