and three courses: Desert Springs, Marina Golf and Valle del Este
in the north close to the holiday resorts of Vera and Mojacar. The
easiest way to get to these courses is by hiring
a car

Golf Courses in Almeria
La
Envia is situated in a wide valley west of the road from the
N340 towards Enix between El Parador and Enix. There are a few difficult,
undulated holes at La Envia Golf which require all your skills,
but short 18 hole golf course designed by Francisco Mendoza is ideal
if you prefer a relaxed and enjoyable game of golf rather than the
challenge of a punishing championship golf course. La Envia has
an excellent restaurant and luxurious clubhouse.
Tee Time reservation and green fee discounts are available at www.laenviagolf.com
Playa Serena Golf Course was founded in 1979 and designed by Angel Gallardo and Peter Alliss. It is a fairly flat course located alongside the beach approximately 5 kilometres west of Roquetas de Mar. Playa Serena Golf is a private golf course but green fee players are welcome when booking in advance www.golfplayaserena.com
Cortijo
Grande is a 9 hole par 36 golf course which opened in 1976.
It is situated about 8 kilometres from the sea and west of the road
between the N340 and Mojacar near Turre. The course is set in a beautiful
valley at the foot of the Sierra Cabrera crossing lemon, orange
and olive groves next to the town. There is no real club house but
we can certainly recommend the restaurant which is right next to
the course. www.cortijogrande.net
Almerimar Golf is situated in the middle of an expanding seaside tourist resort which offers some excellent facilities. The course has wide fairways, large fast greens and plenty of water hazards. It is an American style course full of rich tropical vegetation which was designed by Gary Player and opened in 1976. The green of the challenging par three 12th is settled in the middle of a lake with a tee shot that must cross at least 100 metres of water www.golfresortalmerimar.com
Desert
Springs Golf is the first true California (Palm Springs)
style desert course in Europe.
It is a new course which is 30 minutes from the beach and has been
built to the full USGA specifications. It is a testing course which
is suitable for all levels of ability as fairways have been kept
generously wide but the springs, water courses, dry river beds,
rocks, literally thousands of cacti and numerous bunkers will also
test the skills of the low handicapper. The 18-hole Indiana course
opened in 2000 and another 18 holes are due to open later this year.
The Clubhouse stands above the lake near the 18th hole and is a great place to take some refreshment when you have completed your round.www.almeriagolf.co.uk
Marina Golf is a 5,464 metre 18 hole, par 72 golf course o¬n Mojacar Playa. The course combines flat fairways which are adjacent to the sea, with three lakes and undulating terrain on the mountainside. The 3rd hole is a testing par 5 where the tee is positioned 65 metres above and 483 metres from the green.
The golf course was designed by Ramon Espinosa and opened in the
year 2000. It offers diverse views from each hole over the Almeria
coastline towards the Mediterranean Sea.
Natural water hazards and bunkers protect the small and mostly undulating
greens, and make this course a true challenge and provide a fair
test for all levels of play. The course is surrounded by palms,
pine trees and acacias. www.marinagolf.com
The
Valle del Este Resort is a desert style golf course situated
just outside the city of Vera about 90 km north of Almería
and only 7 km from the beaches of Vera and Garrucha. The course
is a mixture of straightforward holes and some that represent a
real challenge even for the experienced golfer. Characteristics
of Valle del Este are the wide and generous fairways and tees which
are positioned on small raised platforms surrounded by volcanic
rock.
José Fanales designed the course and did an excellent job of integrating it into the rocky landscape. The Valle de Este Resort also has its own four star Hotel and a beach club. www.valdelestegolfresort.com
