Almeria Airport is split over three floors. The main departure and arrival activity takes place on the ground floor. There is an excellent rooftop cafe that can be reached after you have gone through the security checks into the departure lounge.

I was last at Almeria Airport in early February 2006 and thought that it was a nice, clean and well kept airport. Way better than some of the other airports such as Reus for example.

There are a good number of internal flights to Almeria from Barcelona, Madrid, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca. Normally the internal Spanish flights are on offer through Spanair, Air Europa or the National Airline, Iberia. If you are flying to Almeria from the UK and Ireland then you are able to catch regular, scheduled flights from the following Airports: Birmingham, Dublin, Gatwick, Leeds, Luton, Manchester and London Stansted.

The following airlines fly to Almeria from the following airports; Monarch from Birmingham, Luton and Manchester; Easyjet from Gatwick and Stansted; Jet2 from Leeds and Ryanair from Dublin and London Stansted.

The Almeria Airport Taxis can be found outside the arrivals hall. You will always find a number of taxis waiting on the rank. The approximate costs of the various journeys are as follows, €18 into Almeria, €48 into Aguadulce, €30 into Cabo de Gata €75 into El Ejido €112 into Mojacar and €52 into Roquetas de Mar. There is not a train service from Almeria Airport

The Almeria Airport departures hall is also on the ground floor and consists of 17 check in desks. After you have checked in and cleared customs you head downstairs to the lower ground floor where there is a waiting area with a duty free shop and a café.

The Almeria Airport arrivals hall is fairly small with 4 different baggage reclaim areas as you leave the baggage area you enter the arrivals hall and it is here that you will find the various car hire companies and directions to the buses and taxis.

The Almeria Airport buses pick up from just outside the arrivals terminal. The service starts at 07.08 in the morning and the buses into Almeria City centre leave every 50 minutes until 22.33. On a Saturday and Sunday the buses operate every 30 minutes starting at 07.30 and finishing at 22.22. .A ticket for the bus journey from the airport into town is €1.15 or you can purchase a ten trip around town pass for €6.25 Information telephone: (0034) 950 624 735 or visit www.surbus.com

If you want to travel further afield to places like Mojacar or Cabo de Gata you need to get a bus from the depot in the centre of Almeria. You can find out more details of routes and timetables at www.alsa.es

Driving directions to and from Almeria Airport are quite straight forward. The main motorway, the AL-12 goes past Almeria Airport and the exit you need is KM9. The Airport is also well sign posted from the main Autovia the A-7. We have Almeria Airport Maps.
