Almeria Airport

Almeria Airport is the closest airport to resorts and towns such as Aguadulce, Almerimar, Roquetas de Mar, Mojacar, Vera, Garrucha and of course the City of Almeria. Passenger numbers at Almeria Airport in 2009 were 791,830 with 15,391 flight operations.

Almeria Airport is split over three floors. The main departure and arrival activity takes place on the ground floor. There is an excellent rooftop cafe that can be reached after you have gone through the security checks into the departure lounge.

The new departures terminal at Almeria Airport has just opened taking two and half years to complete and costing over €11,000,000. 52 Air Nostrum passengers flew to Barcelona on 1st July were the first members of the public to make use of the new 3,500sqm terminal which now has 21 check desks (instead of the original 17) and a further 6 are to be added when phase II of the expansion work is completed by the middle of next year.

There are a good number of internal flights to Almeria from Barcelona, Madrid, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca. Normally the internal Spanish flights are on offer through Spanair, Air Europa or the National Airline, Iberia. If you are flying to Almeria from the UK and Ireland then you are able to catch regular, scheduled flights from the following Airports: Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Gatwick, Leeds, Luton, Manchester and London Stansted.

These airlines fly to Almeria from the following airports: Monarch from Birmingham, Luton and Manchester; Easyjet from London Gatwick; Jet from Leeds and Ryanair from Dublin and London Stansted.

The Almeria Airport departures hall has just been extended and is also on the ground floor and consists of 21 check in desks. After you have checked in and cleared customs you head downstairs to the lower ground floor where there is a waiting area with a duty free shop and a café.

The Almeria Airport arrivals hall is fairly small with 4 different baggage reclaim areas as you leave the baggage area you enter the arrivals hall and it is here that you will find the various car hire companies and directions to the buses and taxis.

The L-20 Almeria Airport buses pick up from just outside the arrivals terminal.

The service starts at 07.33 in the morning and the buses into Almeria City centre leave every 50 minutes until 22.33. On a Saturday and Sunday the buses operate every 30 minutes starting at 07.25 and finishing at 22.22. If you want to travel further afield to places like Mojacar or Cabo de Gata you need to get a bus from the depot in the centre of Almeria. You can find out more details of routes and timetables at www.alsa.es

Driving directions to and from Almeria Airport are quite straight forward. The main motorway, the AL-12 goes past Almeria Airport and the exit you need is KM9. The Airport is also well sign posted from the main Autovia the A-7. We have Almeria Airport Maps.
