Alicante Golf Courses

The Costa Blanca is a golfer’s paradise with over fifteen 18 hole golf courses which are all within a 2 hour drive of Alicante. There are some excellent championships courses, some of which have been designed by Seve Ballesteros and some of which regularly play host to national championships and are ranked regularly amongst the top courses in the world.

There are ranges which cater for all standards from the novice to the skilled player with a variety of terrains to choose from with the stunning coastline and rugged mountains. Most of the courses have a pro or golf academy to help you work on your swing, whilst there are plenty of driving ranges and practice greens where you can build up your confidence before you even set foot on the course.

The easiest way to get to these course is by hiring a car, which you can do on arrival at Alicante Airport which will also keep your transfer costs to a minimum.

Alenda Golf Club

Situated in Monforte del Cid at the foot of the Sierra de las Aguilas Mountains, this course has an 18 hole spread over a gentle terrain giving a par of 72 and is an entertaining course for players of all levels.

The Alenda is a gently rolling course with well distributed holes which was designed by Roland Favrat and opened in 1999. The greens have tricky slopes requiring a good line and putting stroke. The first 9 holes are wide and lined by trees and the last 9 holes require great concentration with precision counting for more than distance.

Facilities at the club are excellent and include a covered driving range, putting green, chipping green, practice bunker, restaurant, snack bar, clubhouse, parking, pro shop, buggy hire, club hire, trolley hire, club repair, changing rooms, golf classes, tennis, and paddle tennis. www.alendagolf.com

Alicante Golf Club

This course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened ion 1998. It is a modern 18 hole par 72 course on the outskirts of Alicante close to the San Juan beach and is a course for careful players with a number of water hazards on the course and has a handicap restriction of 36 for men and women. The fairways are wide and the greens ample with strategically placed bunkers.

The Alicante Golf Club has a driving range, putting green, chipping green, practice bunker, on-course WC, and on-course beverages. Bonalba Golf Club

This 18-hole par 72 golf course offers some stunning views from its location on the outskirts of Alicante City in the Bonalba Mountains in the Muchamiel area of Alicante. It is at the back of the golden sands of San Juan beach, was designed by Ramon Espinosa and opened in 1993.

It is an interesting and challenging course for players of all levels with wide greens and fairways surrounded by palm and pine trees with some water hazards and large number of bunkers throughout the course.

The Bonalba Golf Club has a covered driving range, putting green, practice bunker, on-course WC, on-course beverages, a restaurant, bar, tennis, sauna, parking, buggy hire, trolley hire and club hire. www.golfbonalba.com

Don Cayo Golf Club

This 9 hole golf course is in pretty coastal resort of Altea in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia Mountains. If you play on this course it is worth putting some time aside to visit Altea which is a beautiful old historic old town clustered around a whitewashed church.

The course opened in 1974 and was designed by Pedro Baber and Gregorio Sanz. It is a par 36 + 36 course playing 6156 metres from the back tees (18 holes). doncayo@ctv.es

El Plantio Golf Club

The El Plantio course is in Elche which is just 2 kms from Alicante International Airport and 3 kms from the city centre. It was designed by Manuel Ferri Sanchez and opened in 1993 and is an 18 hole par 72 and 9 hole par 27 course.

It is a spectacular course to play on with over 36,000 exotic species of trees and three lakes. Its design is varied and the greens and fairways are in excellent condition with a waterfall that flows into two lakes on the fairway of the 13th hole.

The El Plantio Golf Club has a driving range (32 individual off mats), practice area, putting green, snack bar, restaurant, terraces, bar, changing rooms, pro shop, buggy and trolley (electric and manual) hire and golf academy. www.elplantio.com

Ifach

Situated in Benisa and forming part of a country estate the Ifach golf course has spectacular views of the Rock of Ifach. It is a 9 hole par 60 executive length course which was designed by Javier Arana and opened in 1974. It does not offer visitor’s tee times due to its large membership. www.clubgolfifach.com

La Sella

La Sella Golf Club is situated on the slopes of a mountain lying next to the natural park of Montgo in Jesus Pobre in Denia. This 18 hole par 72 course plays 6289 metres from the back tees. It has a handicap restriction of 36 for both men and women and opened in 1991 designed by Juan de la Cuadra.

It played host to the Peugeot Golf Tour Event in March 2007 and offers some excellent facilities including a putting green, driving range, restaurants, buggy hire, clubhouse, changing rooms, showers, sauna, club hire, pro shop and tuition. www.lasellagolf.com

Javea Golf Club

The Javea Golf Club has a full length 9 hole course par 72 which opened in 1981 and close to the resort town of Oliva in Javea. It offers top class golf facilities and was voted the best of all Seve Ballesteros' designed courses.

The course has wide open fairways, but the greens are very well protected by bunkers.
The club offers a practice green, driving range, two tennis courts, a large swimming pool for children, club-house with two bars, a restaurant, TV and card room, changing rooms and caddy area. It does not book tee times more than one day in advance. javeagolf@ctv.es

Real Campoamor Golf Club

Located 10 km from Torrevieja in Orihuela, the Royal Campoamor Golf Club opened in 1989 and was designed by Carmelo Gracias Caselles. It is an 18 hole par 72 course which is 6203 metres, long surrounded by beautiful pine woods and orange groves overlooking the coast from Torrevieja to La Manga del Mar Menor.

The present facilities of the Real Club de Golf Campoamor are currently undergoing great enhancement and will consist of a cafeteria, bar and restaurant, large and luxurious social lounges, terraces, changing rooms, shops, a club room, parking, swimming pools, children's playground, crèche, sports centre and facilities for tennis, paddle and horse riding. rcgcampaomar@oriolnet

Real de Faula

The Real de Faula offers two 18-hole par 72 golf courses in a pine filled valley near Benidorm which opened in 2995 and were designed by Jack Nicklaus and are suitable for all levels of player.

The Levante is a full length par 72 championship course and the Poniente is a par 62 executive course. Both course have spectacular sea and mountain views and has a handicap restriction of 28 for men and 36 for women. www.realdefaula.com

Villamartin Golf Club

The Villamartin Golf Club is situated in Orihuela Costa. It was designed by Paul Putman and opened in 1972. it is an 18 hole par 72 course of 6132 metres with fairways of Bermuda grass and Penncross greens. The club has a handicap restriction of 28 for men and 36 for ladies.
