Lost glasses at Palma Airport

Dear Gary
I lost my glasses on a recent journey to Mallorca. I either left them at Liverpool Airport, or left them on the plane - Easy Jet flight 7149 on Thursday 21 August, 19.40 pm from Liverpool, arriving Palma 23.10 pm.

On checking with the Easy Jet Flight staff on our journey home (3 September), they said that if I had left them on the plane they would have been handed into the Lost Property at Palma airport by the ground staff.

Do you have an e-mail address or telephone number for lost property at Palma, or for the ground staff ?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.
Regards
Carol Ledwards

Hi Carol,

The telephone number at Palma Airport lost property is +34 971 789 456 or you can email them on pmi_reclamaciones@aena.es

Dear Linda
Many thanks for your help. It's much appreciated.

BonoBus Tickets at Tenerife South Airport

Hi again John,

There is a tourist information office in the public area of the arrivals terminal at Tenerife Sur Airport, so hopefully you will be able to get your Bonobus ticket there. If not, you will certainly be able to get one for future journeys at the bus depot at Puerto de la Cruz.

Linda

Hi Linda

Sorry I should have said, we are coming in to the South Airport. For the last few years we have been coming on a package holiday but the operator is not using our favoured hotel this year so we are flying in on easy jet having already booked our hotel (Florida) accommodation. I would be grateful if you could let me know whether there is a Bono outlet in Sofia Reina as I believe Tourist Information Offices usually sell them and I thought there is one there.
Thanks ever so much for your help

John

Hi John,

Presumably you're flying into Tenerife North Airport? There is no bus depot at the airport (which is where you normally purchases Bonobus passes) and you can't buy them on the buses so you may have to wait until you get into Puerto de la Cruz before you can purchase one I'm afraid.

Linda

We are flying in during early October and making our own way to Puerto de la Cruz on the bus, can we buy Bono tickets at the airport and if so where please?

Thanks

Contacting lost property at Valladolid Airport

Hi Dave,

You can email the airport at vll_reclamaciones@aena.es - then you can run your message through a free translation engine to send it in Spanish.

Hope you manage to locate the camera.

Linda

Hi,

I lost my camera at Valladolid airport end of June this year, but as your website says there is no lost property department, and I don't speak spanish, and that's all they speak on the phone! What do you suggest?!

Many Thanks,

Out of hours car hire at Menorca Airport

Hi Katie,

Most of the car hire companies have special collection points for arrivals outside normal opening hours. You can telephone Hertz at Menorca at +34 971 354 092 and ask them what provision they make for this. Their normal hours of operation are Monday-Sunday 07:00-23:00

If you are not happy with what they offer if it worth getting an online quote with a company called Cartrawler who hold a central database of car hire companies at Menorca Airport which they will match your requirements against and come up with a competitive quote.

Linda

Hello Gary,

I am hoping you will be able to help me …… my boyfriend and I will be flying to Menorca on Monday 15th Sept on an easyjet flight from LGW that is due in at 21.45. I have found a good car hire deal with Hertz on the internet but as I understand it, hertz closes at 23.00 and I am worried that if the flight is delayed, we will not arrive in time to collect our car?

Are you able to confirm what would happen in that circumstance or advise of a company within the airport that stays open for longer that would be a safer option?

Thank you very much in advance Gary!

Kind regards,

Katie

Buses from Reus to Barcelona

Hi Becky,

Bad news I'm afraid, the 22.00 bus is the only public transport connection from Reus to Barcelona on Sunday 21st. The last train leaves the Renfe station in Reus city centre at 21.18 so that's even more useless than the bus. It's a 110km journey so a taxi or private transfer will cost a fortune.

The best thing is for you to check with Ryanair on whether or not the bus waits for passengers on the Birmingham flight, but if you suffer any delay you are completely stuck. Afraid the best suggestion I can make is that you fly out a day earlier and stay in Reus overnight and make your way to Barcelona the following morning ... sorry! Or you can hire a car from Reus Airport and drop it off at Barcelona Sants Railway Station.

Linda

Hi Gary,

I really need some help here! I'm flying to Reus on the 21st of September (a Sunday) from Birmingham, with Ryanair. The flight lands at 21.45pm. I need to at least manage to get into Barcelona Sants that night as I am starting a new job at 9am the next morning!

I've checked the Reus to Barcelona bus timetables, but I'm alarmed that the timetable lists departure for the people arriving on the Birmingham flight at 10pm! That gives me fifteen minutes to get off the plane, through security, pick up my baggage and get on the bus! Is this just an approximate time? Do they allow for the fact that people have to pick up their luggage, etc?

If not, is there any alternative means of getting to Barcelona after 10pm on a Sunday night?

Thank you,

Becky

Getting from Malaga to Jerez by bus or train

Hi Brit,

The only direct public transport from Malaga to Jerez is a bus - but there is only one a day as you will see from this timetable. I am afraid there are no direct train services from Malaga to Jerez.

Your best option is to get a train from Malaga to Seville and then get another train from Seville to Jerez.

Click on this link for details on how to get from Malaga Airport to the city centre which is where the Renfe station is.

Linda

Your client is based in northern Spain. There is an airport at La Coruna which operates mainly internal flights, but your client can fly from there into Heathrow Airport with Clickair.

The other alternative is to fly them from La Coruna to Madrid with Spanair or Iberia and they will then have a choice of UK airports to fly into.

Train services to Antequera

Hi Bob,

If you click on this link it gives you more information on the Malaga - Antequera rail link. And to find out fares and timetables from Malaga to Antequera visit the Renfe website.

Antequera Santa Ana station is on the outskirts of the main town I believe, but like you I cannot find a location map. You can telephone the station on +34 952 843 226 for more details.

Linda

Hi Gary

I cannot find a map tha gives the location of Antequera station relative to the main town.
Also I note that given info says that AVE will be operating between Malaga and Antequera,
does that mean that local trains are already running this route?
Hope you can help!

Advance Passenger Information (API)

Hi Yvonne,

I believe that the information is required for all passengers travelling into Spain regardless of which country they originated from (otherwise as a security precaution it would be a waste of time), but the best thing is to check with the airline which is flying you into Spain from Germany.

Linda

Hello,

could you please help me with the following question:

do Spanish aiprorts require APIS data for passengers arriving from Schengen-countries if they originally come from a non-Schengen conutry? E.g. a connecting flight from Moscow via Germany to Spain?

Baggage handlers strike at Lanzarote Airport

Hi Steve & Shirley,

This is the latest situation "Baggage handlers at Arrecife Airport are threatening to take indefinite strike action next week. In a pay related protest that could cause disruption to British and Irish tourists. Baggage handlers employed by Swissport Menzies at Arrecife airport are set to go on strike next Thursday 11th September. A move that will affect travellers on Easyjet, Thomas Cook, Aerlingus, Condor, Iberworld and Futura.

Swissport Menzies is one of the five companies which handles luggage at Arrecife airport. Union representative, David Perdomo, declared that suitcases will arrive, but what could not be envisaged is how long it will then take to unload them and get them to passengers. As only a minimal service will be provided by the handlers.

Further 24 hour strikes are then planned every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday until the dispute has been resolved.

Union officials are keen to ensure that travellers are aware of the action and stressed that there is as little disruption caused to passengers as possible"

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ...!

FUTURA AIRWAYS SUSPENDS FLIGHTS

The Spanish charter airline Futura International has suspended flights today (Monday 8th September) and filed for administration

The airline is Europe's largest independent medium-haul charter airline based in Palma Mallorca. It is due to resume flights on Tuesday, having until 12th September to outline its financial situation, reorganisation and safety plans to the Spanish transport ministry, who will then make a decision on whether to pass, suspend or revoke Futura's flying licence.

Flying a dog from Murcia or Alicante

Hi David,

You can fly the dog back without using a pet transport carrier, and Aena (the Spanish Airport Authority) have produced some guidelines regarding transporting pets. Only a few airlines provide this facility, and I know that British Airways and Monarch will transport pets on certain flights. It has to be done on an aircraft which has a special area between the hold and the passenger cabin.

As far as getting your pet on board the plane, my experience has been that you either check them in at the airline desk and someone comes and takes them to the cargo area for boarding or you are asked to take them straight to the cargo area - it depends on the airline and the airport.

Hope this helps.

Linda

dear Gary,
We have a Yorkshire terrier which we wish to transport from either Murcia or Alicante airport without having to use a pet transport carrier
and not having to leave in a holding area other than the cargo excess booking in depot. The reason for this query is our dog is very sensitive
an epileptic and when we retuned to England last time we were told that the only way to send a dog back to England was via a recognised pet
carrier
is this correct.
Yours faithfully
David

Tourist map of Jerez

Hi again Andrea,

Second question first - afraid you will not be provided with luggage labels by Ryanair!

As far as getting a map of Jerez city centre is concerned, there are two facilities side by side in the arrivals hall at Jerez Airport - Jerez city council tourist information point which offers access to a website with tourist information on Jerez or Cadiz Council Tourist Information Services which should be able to provide you with a map and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:15 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 18:30; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 to 14:15 and from 16:30 to 18:30; Fridays from 8:15 to 14:15 and from 16:30 to 18:30.

If you just want to pop into a shop and get a map try Divers multi shop in the arrivals hall (opposite end to the tourist offices) as they sell books, magazines, souvenirs, etc, and should have maps of the area.

And if all this fails then click on this link for a map showing where the tourist office is located in the centre of Jerez.

Hope this helps.

Linda

Hello there,

Some time ago you helped me with a query regarding Jerez Airport and I am hoping you can help me with another one ! I have tried but without success to buy a map of jerez city centre. I have tried all the major book stores even had an order in with Waterstones (on line) and after 6 weeks they e mailed me to say it was not possible to order one for their suppliers. The maps on the internet are really not large enough (aging eyesight and all that). I would like to be armed with a map, if possible before hitting the city centre and having to go to the tourist info office and wondered if I would be able to buy one in arrivals at Jerez ?

My second query is only having ever travelled on charters and a scheduled flight many years back on a 747 I assume that with budget airlines (Ryanair) luggage labels are not issued. Cannot see anything on their FAQ,s regarding this. Would I be right ?

Many thanks for your anticipated help.

Getting from Gibraltar Airport to Rota

Thanks Linda

I think I may well be looking at flying into Jerez instead...

Best
Sumita

Hi Sumita,

First of all there are no buses out of Gibraltar into Spain so you have to walk across the border to the bus station in La Linea which takes about 10 minutes and catch a bus from La Linea to Algeciras and then another bus from Algeciras to Rota which you will see if a very limited service (one bus a day).

There are no train links in this area so your other option is to get bus from La Linea to Jerez (which again is a limited service) and then a taxi from Jerez to Rota which is a 30km journey and will cost in the region of €40 for up to 4 people single fare. Or finally you can get a bus from Jerez to Cadiz (offer two buses a day) and then a taxi from Cadiz to Jerez - 34km journey costing about €45.

Linda

Hi Gary

I hope you can help. I wanted to get from Gibraltar airport to Rota using public transport and wondered what the best way of doing this would be?

Hi Gillie,

If you complete the Cartrawler booking form on our website they have to match your requirements to a car hire firm which can supply a vehicle at the time specified. Although the actual car hire desks might close at the airport, most of them operate an out of hours pick and collection service.

Linda

I am very worried as we are due to land at 1 .55 in the morning at ibiza airport , through your website you claim to be able to rent a car , however I gather from friends who live on the island that all the car hire desks are closed at midnight if not before, before I give my credit car details please confirm that your company can offer these out of hours services thank you

Getting from Murcia to Mazarron

Thanks for your help yes Its not worth extra travel for saving 10 - 15euro Thanks

Gemma xx

Hi Gemma,

It's just over 60 km from Murcia Airport to Mazarron so a taxi which will carry up to 4 people will cost in the region €85-90 single fare. There are no bus links from Murcia but you can catch a bus from Cartagena to Mazarron but the last one leaves at 19.30 so you won't be able to make it - but it may be of use for your return journey.

The only other sightly cheaper option I can see is if you can get a train from the Renfe station in the centre of Murcia to Cartagena which will cost about €15 and then a taxi from Cartagena to Mazarron which is a 34km and will cost about €50.

You can find out how to get from Murcia Airport to the railway station in the city centre by clicking on this link.

Because of your ETA I would be tempted to get a taxi straight from the airport to Mazarron - by the time you have added all the costs of taxis, trains and buses together there is really not a lot of difference in price and it will save you hours in travelling.

Linda

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help i'm arriving at Murcia airport today at 19.05 need to get to Mazzeron but I didnt realise how expensive it was for a transfer, could you possibly tell me how I could get there by bus or train?
