Euro currency exchange in Ibiza

Hi Laura,

The exchange rate in Ibiza varies on where you go to change the money - for example you will get more if you go into a bank than at the Bureau de Change kiosks in the tourist resorts. The average current rate fluctuates around 1.24-1.26 GBP to the Euro.

Linda

Hello, I have been looking on your website to try to find out what the exchange rate is in Ibiza, from British Pounds to Euro. If you have any information I would be very grateful to hear from you as I am flying out on Friday.

Many Thanks

Pram hire and supermarkets in Menorca

Hi again Jo,

There are several supermarkets in Cala Blanca so you will be OK for shopping. You can also find out where and when the fresh food markets are held in Menorca by clicking on the link.

As far as buggy hire is concerned the only place I know of is Holiday Hires but they don't offer double ones as far as I can see. If you contact them they may be able to get hold of one for you.

Linda

Hi Linda
Thanks for your reply.
I will be travelling to cala blanca in september and we have hired a car so we could travel.
i am also travelling with 1 year old twins so i need a double buggy.

Many thanks

Jo

Getting from Sitges to the Algarve

Hi Linda

Many thanks your help, I just never realised it would be so difficult! I think I will try the better option of flying in.

Best wishes,

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

There is no easy way to get from Spain to Portugal by public transport I'm afraid, If you click on this link it gives you details of train services from Barcelona to Portugal
but as you will see your friends will have to go from Barcelona to Madrid and then get a connection to Lisbon from there. From Lisbon they can get to Albufeira.

The only bus service which operates across the border is a bus from Seville to Faro.

The only other option is to get a flight from Barcelona to Lisbon with TAP-Air Portugal, Vueling Airlines or Iberia and then get a train to Albufeira.

Linda

Hi Gary

I have some friends arriving by cruise ship into Barcelona, they want to spend a few days in Sitges and then travel to the Algarve, either Faro where I can collect them, or if possible right through to Albufeira.

Do you have any uptodate information on travelling this route? Thanks, Margaret

Travelling from Barcelona to Benicassim

Hi Kai,

You are cutting it very fine because you need to get from the airport to Barcelona Sants station in the city centre to catch the train to Benicassim. If your flight lands a bit early you might just make it.

There are no bus services from Barcelona to Benicassim and it's about a 270km journey so a taxi (which holds 4 people) will cost you over €300 single fare. You have the options of hiring a car from Barcelona Airport or booking a hotel in Barcelona and catching the train the following morning.

Linda

Hi Gary

I hope you can help

Our flight arrives at Barcelona airport at 17.50 on 15th July, but I have just found out the last train to Benicassim departs at 19.00 - I'm assuming this is cutting it fine

Can you tell me what our options are?

Many thanks

Private transfers from Gibraltar Airport

Hi Helga,

It's a tricky one because i don't know of any private transfer companies operating into Spain from the actual airport in Gibraltar, but some will collect you from the border entrance at La Linea (it's just a few minutes walk from the arrivals hall).

You can book a private transfer with Holiday Taxis but their website will not allow you to put Gibraltar Airport in as your collection point. If you click on the "contact us" in the top right hand corner of their page you can email them your request.

Linda

Hello,

we are flying into Gibraltar and we need a private tranfer from Gibraltar airport to La Zagaleta (Marbella).

Ay idea how to book that kind of service?

Getting from Valencia to Moraira

Hi Sarah,

There are no buses on this route and the only public transport link is to get a train from Valencia to Alicante

Click on this link to find the various ways on how to get from Valencia Airport to the bus station in the centre of the city.

You can then get a taxi to El Portet which is an 82km drive and should cost about €110 single fare for all of you.

Hiring a car from Valencia Airport really is your best option.

Linda

HI

I wonder if you could tell me if there are any public bus services from Valencia Airport going to Moraira (we are actually going to be staying in El Porte) - we are not sure if we are going to hire a car yet and taxis do seem to be very expensive - there will be 3 adults and one child.

Thanks!

Getting from Malaga to Ceuta

Hi Roxana,

1. The last bus from Malaga airport into the city centre is at 24:00 so if you are not delayed you should make it. You can find other options of getting from the airport into Malaga City centre (taxis, trains, etc) by clicking on the link.

2. You can find the time of the first buses from Malaga Bus station to Algeciras here. (There are various timings and routes)

3. It takes between 2 to 3 hours to get from the centre of Malaga to Algeciras depending on which bus you catch, For full details of timetables of buses from Malaga to Algeciras click on this link,

4. You just pay for the bus at the bus station and should not need to book in advance.

Linda

Thanks Linda
I'm now booked into a Youth Hostel for that night in Malaga City cerntre.
I have 3 further questions:
1) Are there buses to the City Centre at that time of the night?
2) At what time is the 1st bus the following morning from Malaga City Centre to Algeciras Port?
3) How long does the journey from Malaga City Centre to Algeciras Port takes?
4) Do I need to book the bus in advance?

I need to book the ferry in advance but I don't know at what time i will arrive to Algeciras because I don't know how long the journey will take or at what time can I leave Malaga.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Roxana

Family transfers from Palma Airport

Hi Trish,

You are right that taxis will only carry 4 passengers,

The best thing is to get a free online quote for car hire from Palma Airport. The company we work closely with are Cartrawler who hold a database of all the car hire companies based at Palma Airport which they will match your requirements against and come up with some competitve quotes.

Your other option is to book seats on private shuttle bus from the airport to Terra Nova, and by clicking on this link you can also get a quote for a private transfer where the driver will collect you from the arrivals hall and take you to your destination.

Hope all this helps you to come up with the best option for your family.

Linda

Hi
We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children. We are travelling to Torre Nova at the end of June from Palma airport and wondered what is the best way to get there, as I have read that all licensed taxis only carry 4 passengers. Am I better off to hire a car? (If so where's a good deal and do I need booster seats for the children (aged 11,9,7)) or is it easier and better value to book a private transfer? ( who could you recommend?)

Thanks

Lorry drivers' stirke in Spain

Thanks Linda - that's very reassuring!

best regards

Roger

Hi Roger,

The drivers here were on strike the week before the UK one (they were blocking food and petrol supplies). We did have some fuel and food shortages (fresh meat, fish and veg) for about a day, but the government adopted a policy of zero tolerance and sent in the army and guards to break up the picket lines.

So hopefully that's the end of the problem, but if they do strike again it should all be over pretty quickly with the government's stance.

Linda

Hello Gary

We are flying into Girona on 28th June and have a hire car booked for a week (we are staying near Tremp)

Are there any problems with fuel supplies - some tanker drivers are on strike here

Getting from Faro to Huelva

Hi Brian,

Seville is the nearest airport (92km) but does not operate flights from Bristol. If you hire a car to cross the border from Portugal to Spain you will have to pay a hefty insurance premium on top of the hire charge I'm afraid. It doesn't matter that you are returning it to Faro it's all to do with cover when entering different countries. The best thing is to contact Hertz or Avis and get an online quote.

It's a 114km trip from Faro which will take about one hour and 30 minutes.

The other alternative is to get a bus from Faro to Huelva and you can get timetables by clicking on the link "rutas y horarios".

Your only other alternative is to fly into Malaga from Bristol and then drive from there. But it's over 300km (motorway most of the way) and will take over three hours.

Linda

Hullo Gary. I need to go into Huelva for a couple of days from Bristol and it seems to me the best route in is Faro and then by car. Please could you tell me how long this might take by road and what the problem is with hire car costs crossing the border your other contacts refer to. If I return it to Faro there should be no problem I think.

Thanks, Brian
