Niza Car Hire At Malaga Airport - My Personal Review

Last week my parents, sister and two kids came over to visit us in Spain, my dad is typical of the older generation and would never, ever consider driving "abroad" on the "wrong side of the road"!

So faced with the choice of 8 of us cramming into a ford focus, walking everywhere, getting buses or two taxis everytime we wanted to go anywhere I quickly decided that it would be sensible to hire a mini bus.

The first problem I faced is that I had left it a bit late and after getting some great prices from car Trawler for collection in Marbella I was told within 24 hours that none would be available.

So on to plan B...collect the minibus at the airport. Rebooking for airport collection was a bit of a faff and I did have to phisically make another booking and enter all my details again but it could ahve been worse.

The other understandable BUT slightly annoying thing is that Car Trawler debit your card for 10% of the cost everytime you make a reservation and before the booking is confirmed. This is known as pre-authorisation and if you don't go ahead with the booking your card is credited within a few days but you do get a shock when you first check your statement.

Anyway, after all that I got my confirmation email from car trawler telling me the Niza Cars would be my supplier and on the day I duly arrived at the depot at Malaga Airport. It's very easy to find, its right on the roundabout by the San Miguel Brewery.

Normally you would go outside the arrivals hall and wait at the far end of the taxi queue where the Niza Car shuttle bus picks up from. (about 1 minute journey!).

I had to show my reservation voucher, credit card, driving licience and passport it took about 2 minutes to zip through the paperwork. The only thing I had to decide was whether to take out FULL insurance or not (basically no excess), it was an extra €6 per day for the minibus but given the way people drive here I thought that it was a good idea. So I had to pay 90% of the original quote plus €60 as I had already paid 10% to Car Trawler.

I was then given the keys, shown to the minibus and on my way. I don't think that I spent longer than 5 minutes there!

It was even quicker when taking the minibus back, about 2 minutes!

The only bugbear I have is that I had to take the minibus back empty of fuel, I know why they do it but you always feel like you have left some money behind!

All in all great service, good minibus and great price. And no I didnt get any special discounts or treatment!

I paid €525 for the minibus plus an extra €60 for the full insurance, pretty good for 9 days hire!

You can get a quote through our car hire section here. Car Hire In Spain or direct through Niza Car Rental.
