Breakdown of Spanish Airport Charges

Hi Terry,

We are an independent airport guide and do not work for Aena (the Spanish Airport Authority) who levy these charges. If you follow this link it take you to the document they produce which details their charges http://www.aena.es/csee/ccurl/tarifas-ingles-2008.pdf - good luck in deciphering it!

Many thanks for your information regarding the airport bus you sent me on 15/03/2008 this will come in very handy when picking up family and friends.

Please could you help with another query? I am looking at flying back to the UK from Valencia later on this year and I have been unable to find out on the Net a breakdown of the Spanish charges for airport tax. In the past it was always cheaper to fly from Spain to England than it was the other way. Recently there has been bad press for Ryanair and other such carriers in the UK. papers stating that they are making a bomb with all of there extra charges. I am looking into All companies to try to get the best deal possible and it seems that they charge what they like. Offers range from 0.01€ plus 9.99€ taxes but if the fare goes over this the taxes rise to 18.13€ nearly double with a breakdown as follows:-
Insurance/Wheelchair Levy and Aviation Insurance 5.79€ Spanish Airport Tax 7.24€ and Spanish PSC Tax 5.10€ yet flying from England there is only the one charge Air Passenger Tax of 9.98€. Are these Spanish charges correct and can they be charged.

Regards

Terry
