Travelling from Girona to Argeles sur Mer

I have looked at the various ways of getting from Girona to Argeles Sur Mer and by far the best option seems the 12.57 train to Cerbere which eventually gets into Argeles Sur Mer at 16.08. If you hire a car then as you say, you will have to pay a premium to take it into France.

Arriving at Girona Airport at about 1100 on morning of April 17th we then need to travel across into France to Argeles Sur Mer for the following 6 days.


It is our first time for many years into this area. I have looked at rail which seems to indicate a 1257 service at Girona town for Cerbere, then 1 ½ hour wait then a 23 minute rail journey to Argeles


We have also looked at several of the advertising car hire firms with reasonably similar rates but then between 30-50 euro on top for outside Spain insurance.

What would be the usual method for this journey and do you have any suggestions please

By way of exchange, we recently went down to Torremolinos from Malaga Airport, excellent train service on the C1 urban route, two trains per hour at less than 2 euro per person. On our return to Malaga before flight back to the UK there is an excellent left luggage at Malaga main railway station up the stairs from the airport line at 4 euro 6 per day. Worth every centime.
