Baggage Transfer at Madrid Airport

Hi Fraser,

Your best bet is to book your London/Madrid flights with the Spanish airline Iberia as they are the main airline operators at Madrid, and even though they have different ground handling staff (Iberia has its own and Air Comet use Newco) they are the most likely to book your luggage right through. You can do this at www.iberia.com

Dear Gary,

I came across your very useful site and hope you can help me.

I am travelling from London to Bogota in Colombia, via Madrid airport, in January. I had hoped to be able to stop off in Spain en route to Colombia but have not been able to get a Spanish visa (I'm travelling on a Colombian passport). I now need to book a flight from London to Madrid to connect to my Madrid/Bogota flight that will allow me to check my baggage in at London all the way through to Bogota because, without a visa, I cannot leave airside in Madrid to collect baggage. The same is true for my return to London.

My Madrid/Bogota and return Bogota/Madrid flight is with Air Plus Comet. Can you advise which airlines I can use for the London/Madrid/London legs of the trip that will allow me to check baggage all the way through in Madrid in both directions? Any other advice would be ver helpful indeed! If you do not know the answer, how can I find out?!

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Fraser
