Lost luggage at Barcelona Airport

Hi there,

my girlfriend has traveled to El Prat Barcelona from Malta using Click-Air on Monday August 6.

Her luggage was lost, and after 4 days they say it is still untraced.

Do you have any tel.no. or e-mails for the company responsible to handle Click air luggage in El Prat.

She’s been trying through the hotel reception, with lines very busy. Not much help…

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

The contact details for Clickair at Barcelona are: telephone - 807 117 117 or email: info@clickair.com

Hope you manage to find the missing luggage.

Opening times of Barcelona Airport

Hi Paul,

Barcelona is an international airport which stays open for all the flights which operate from there 24 hours a day so it does not close.

Linda

Hi Gary, can you tell me the opening times of the Airport as I have a very early flight and so I was hoping to ´sleep´on a chair at the airport overnight if possible. Thanks, Paul

Getting to Puerto de la Duquesa from Gibraltar

Hi Jenny,

Puerto de la Duquesa is a 35km journey from Gibraltar Airport so a taxi would cost you in the region of €60 each way but often they will only take 3 adults and one child/baby: but his does seem to prove that €260 is a bit excessive. The best thing is for you to contact Shuttle Direct at http://www.shuttledirect.com/en/php/airport_shuttle_direct.php If you click on the help section you can send them an email with your query. You will have to be collected in La Linea which is the Spanish side across the frontier, but it will only take you about 5 minutes to walk this from the airport.

Let me know if you need any further help.

Linda

Hi there,

I was wondering if you had any advice about any recomended ways of getting to Puerto de la Dequesa. We are arriving in Gibraltar on 22nd Sept there are 4 adults and 1 baby returning on 29th Sept. We have been quoted 260euros in total, not convinced this is the cheapest. Reallyappreciate any info you can share

Car Hire in Valencia

Linda

Thank you so much for your help

Teresa

Hi Teresa,

I can sympathise - the Spanish drivers terrify me!

We work with a company called Cartrawler who have a number of local car hire firms on their database which they match your requirements against. You can make the request that you collect the car from a rental agency south of the city and they should be able to provide details. Valencia Airport has a metro station, buses and taxis outside the arrivals terminal which all connect to the city. You can get further details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/valencia-airport.html. And you can contact Cartrawler at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

Linda

Good Afternoon

I am travelling to Teulada Moraira in early September and will be flying to Valencia.

I have made this trip through Valencia on a number of occasions but always as a passenger rather than a driver. I am anxious about driving through the city on this trip, on a previous visit we missed the correct exit and found it quite difficult to get back on course.

Do you provide a service where I could pick up a hire-car some place south of the city and also what are the options for connecting with such a pick up point (do I get a taxi)?

I would be very grateful for your assistance.

Thank you

Teresa O'Sullivan

Murcia Airport Lost property

Hi Tracey,

How upsetting for you and your son. Without the registration number of the taxi or driver number it is impossible to track the taxi down at Murcia Airport I'm afraid. All I can suggest is that you telephone Murcia Airport lost property to see if the driver handed the bag in there +34 968 172 000. This may be the number you have already tried but it may well be worth ringing again.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Linda

Dear Gary

Just got your name from the Airport website. Wonder if you could please help.

We flew into Murcia from Cardiff Wales Airport on Saturday, 18th August @ 3.30 'ish.

We hired an airport taxi and travelled to Il Divino gated complex in Los Alcazares.

Between the flight and arriving at our destination my 11year old son lost his hand luggage which was a blue/black Cardiff City back pack with the Cardiff City bluebirds logo on it. Inside was his PSP (portable playstation), 3 games for the PSP, 4 packets of Top Trump cards, earphones for his mobile and a book. He was distraught.

My husband walked(!) to and from the airport on Sunday morning and a lady at the info desk gave him a number to call the following day but not much joy. The chap who gave us our keys for the townhouse also made a couple of calls but again no joy.

As a last resort I thought I would contact you. I would really appreciate it if you could make some enquiries for me. My son believes that the taxi driver was called Dino?

Thanks so much. Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards.

Hi again Karen,

No, its a set fare regardless of the number of passengers (4 is the maximum) so on that basis it's quite reasonable for you.

Getting to Almeria

Hi again Sinead,

If you follow this link it will give you the bus timetables for the 13th http://www.alsa.es/horarios/hor_navega.asp

You will see that the timings are not great to match up with your timetable and you will need to get the 13.55 bus which gives you a bit of a wait at the other end.

Linda

Sorry Linda

One more question?

I have decided to hire a car in Mojacar and get a cab on the 6th. When I leave the resort on the 13th will I be able to get a bus that day have to be at the airport by 7.00pm

Thanks

Sinead Atkinson

Hi Sinead,

Spanish taxis do not have child seats I´m afraid and one will cost about €100 for the 85km journey to get from the airport to Mojacar. It's a busy road out of the airport and by the time you clear customs you will have missed the busiest time which is between 7.00-8.30, but I wouldn't like to describe the roads there as "quiet".

Having said all that, it's a pretty straightforward route and you can get directions at http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/int/dyn/controller/ItiWGPerformPage?
reinit=1&strStartCityCountry=EUR&strStartAddress=aeropuerto&strStartMerged=
almeria&strDestCityCountry=EUR&strDestAddress=centro&strDestMerged=mojacar&image2.
x=41&image2.y=10
You can get a quote for car hire (with a child seat) at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html

Linda

Hi Gary

I wondered whether you can help. I am travelling to Almeria on 5th sept, 3 adults & 1 child (aged 2), I was looking to hire a car to get me to Mojacor but am petrified of the driivng out there.

If I was to get a cab will they have a child seat and how much will it cost?

I am due to land at 8pm in the evening, would the roads be quiet if I did consider driving.....

Thanks for your help

Getting from Reus to Barcelona

Hi Sylvia,

A lot of people are misled by the Ryanair/Barcelona information. Reus is over 100km from Barcelona and a taxi will cost in the region of €130-€140.

The other options are for your parents to get a taxi from Reus Airport to the Renfe train station in the city centre and get a train to Barcelona Sants Station and then a metro connection or taxi to the station. Following this link for details http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=71400&D=BARCE&AF=2007&MF=MM&DF=DD&SF=NaN&ID=i

Or they can get a bus from Reus Airport to Barcelona City Centre and then a taxi to the airport which will cost in the region of €15-20. This is probably your best option. Details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/reus-airport-buses.html

Hope this helps.

Bringing foodstuffs in Spain

Many Thanks Linda,

Much appreciated.

Regards,

Janine.

Hi Janine,

If you are flying into Spain you should follow this link it will tell you what foodstuffs can be transported in your hand luggage http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10.

Generally and according to European Commission regulations travellers may not bring foodstuffs of animal origin into Spain as part of their baggage (meats, meat products, milk and dairy products). The only exceptions to this are powdered milk for children in commercial packaging, and special foodstuffs required for medical conditions. Other foodstuffs can be brought into Spain up to a maximum weight of one kilogram.

Hope this answers your queries.

Linda

Hello Gary,

I just need some information which I could not find on your web-site. I hope that you will be able to help me. I need to check on what are the restrictions in bringing any meat products/fish/dairy products and nuts when coming into the country. Will you be able to advise me on this please.

Many Thanks.

Long term parking at Valencia Airport

Fabulous, thanks Linda.

Hi again Ann,

Hi again Ann,

None that I know of. I'll publish your message on the blogger to see if any of the readers there know of off airport parking facilities.

Linda

Linda, thanks for your reply. I take it that there is no "off" airport long term parking at Valencia then, like there is at Alicante??

Hi Ann,

I'm afraid €13.55 per day for the first four days is the charge for P4 which is the long term parking at Valencia Airport. From the fifth day onwards it does reduce to €5.40 per day.

Linda

I am trying to find out if there are any long term car parks at Valencia Airport. I dont want to have to leave my care at the airport at euro 14 a day!

Transferring between Terminals at Madrid

Transfers at Madrid are very well organised and there are connecting bus transit centres in each terminal to transport you to the next terminal for your flight connection.

You should be able to check your bags right through and not have to see them again or clear customs until you arrive in Casablanca.

You can get a taxi from Vitoria Airport into the centre (cost about €17). Details at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/vitoria-airport.html but the uses only operate one a day.

So it looks like you will have to stay in Vitoria for the night and get a train to Santander the following day. You can find details of hotels at http://www.vitoria-hotels.com/ and I believe the two star Dato is fine for stop over.
