How do I get from Calahonda to Gibraltar

Hi Gary,
I have to travel to Spain in August for a memorial service in Gibraltar. I will be staying in Calahonda as this is my cheapest option. Can you tell me please how I can travel down to Gibraltar fairly cheaply, eg: bus, coach or train?
Thanks

Hi, you can get a bus from Marbella Bus Station to La Linea.

Also, some big hotels do day excursions to Gibraltar too.

Do taxis have Car Seats for Babies

Hi Gary

I wonder if you could help with a child car seat query. We are travelling to Alicante then onto resort in Benidorm with our 6 y/o and 18mth old. Can I pre-book a taxi with the necessary child car seats in them? Do I need a booster for our eldest? I know we can pick up a taxi from outside of the Airport without booking. Do you suggest I pre-book or take my own car seat & booster? Do you have any other suggestion? I hope you can help
Thanks in advance, Foong

Hi Foong,

as with taxis in the UK and most parts of the world Spanish taxis do not have car seats.

You would need to take your own if you wanted them

Disabled around Palma Airport

Hi Gary,

I wonder if you can assist. I have made a group booking - flying out of Humberside airport in the UK to Palma. One of my group has a disability/mobility problem which is a concern as you know there could be a long walk at Palma airport.

How do we find out about getting a airport wheelchair just for use whilst we walk to collect our baggage and confirm our car hire arrangements that I have pre-booked ?

I am afraid ThomsonFly.com who I booked flights through, and Air Europa (who's flight it is on the way out) seem to be totally incapable of assisting or providing information and contacts.

Many thanks for your assistance...

Best Regards,

Carl Smaller

Hi Carl

This answer requires faith!!

On every flight I have ever been on within Spain there has been airport staff at the entrance to the plane to help people with disabilities. I was at malaga airport last night and there were 2 buggies waiting outside the door of the plane!

If you have any doubts call the Spanish Airport Authority (who speak English) on 0034 902 404 704

Good luck

Getting around Madrid Airport

Hi, we are flying in from the United States and arriving in Madrid//Barajas Airport at 9:30 in the morning.
We have less than a hour and a half to catch the Spainair flight south to Jerez.
How do we walk or navigate through your airport to catch that Spanair flight?
I believe the Continental Airline comes in at Terminal 1 (?), and the Spanair flight is in Terminal 2.
Thank you so much for any help here.

Hi Ken,

Very easy to get around via transit bus, all info here...

Worth giving them a call to double check that you pick the car up at the airport as sometimes they have offices in the airport but you still go somewhere else.

Hi Gary
Could you please help, I left my niece at Gerona airport last night to catch the London Luton flight leaving at 22h, 20. After having checked online this flight seems to have been taken off the board. My nieces telephone is not working and I can get no information from either Gerona or Luton concerning this flight. Do you know what has happened?
Thankyou
Janis

Soory was not able to answer your message in time. I do hope all was ok

Yes thankyou my niece arrived safely into luton airport at about three in the morning. They had been told that the wing of the incoming aircraft had been touched by lighting and that it could not land in Gerona as it needed to be revised or repaired. Another aircraft was brought in to replace it.

3 Airports in Barcelona

Hi Gary,

A quick question – is there only one airport in Barcelona is the airport name is Barcelona. Flights are with Easy Jet from London Gatwick and from Madrid with Air Europa or Vueling. Reason for asking is I have a friend arriving on easy jet so am trying to co ordinate a flight arrival time as the same but would hate to arrive at different airports. Thanks

Mische

No do be careful. Some call it barcelona but it could be Girona.

There are 3, Barcelona, Girona and also Reus.

If you go here

you can have a look at each airport and check the airport code!

Good luck

Madrid American Airlines

Hi Gary
We will be flying into Madrid on American Airlines, then transfering to an Iberia flight to Barcelona.
Will we go through customs in Madrid or Barcelona? Assuming it is Madrid, is 2 hours enough time? Do we need to switch terminals?
Thanks.

am sure you will be able to check your luggage in for the whole way.

Its best to ask American Airlines, they will also be able to advise about the customs although I am sure that you will have to leave customs and go back in again.

Indirect flight Valencia to Gibraltar via Madrid

I do not speak Spanish so would appreciate some advice, Many Thanks, Maureen

My Reply...

Hi Maureen

Apologies for the delays i coming back to you.

Your luggage may go all the way through, it depends who you are flying with. If its BA or Iberia or a combination of these two then I am sure it will. If not then you will ahve to coolect it and check in again!

Madrid Airport Staff are very good at speaking English and I am 99% sure all the signs are in English.

Hope all goes well.

Meeting Place in Malaga

Hi Gary,
I came across your email address while researching my upcoming trip to Malaga. I'm flying from the United States (with a small layover in London) to Malaga, and my fiance, who currently lives in Morocco, is taking a ferry into Malaga. My flight and his ferry both arrive around the same time, and I'm trying to figure out a place to meet him. After some reseach, I can't pinpoint exactly how far the airport and the ferry terminal are from each other. Now, we have reservations at Picasso's Corner hostel for the night, so maybe it would be easier to meet there. Any help at all you can provide would be so greatly appreciated. What is your advice? If we meet at the airport, could you offer a good meeting point that is obvious to tourists?
Thank you so much,
Amanda

My Reply...

Hi Amanda

Sounds romantic!!

The port is in the city center, the aiport is about 10kms outside of the city.

I would say that the safest and easiest place to meet is at the hostel, not as romantic I know!

would you have any idea on how to get from vitoria airport to oviedo centre, by bus or train, what would the quickest way be , it will be in october

My Reply...

Hi David

Vitoria to Oviedo is a LONG way, about 340 kms!

You would need to get from the airport to the main train station then there is only 1 train per day, it leaves at 1057 in the morning.

All info here... you can put the site into english!

Buses is trickier and I don't know the answer BUT you could start by going to this website and then calling them, they should speak English....

Wheelchair Hire at Palma Airport

Hi Gary
Have a little problem. We are taking a cruise out of Palma with my 80 year old mother. She has difficulty walking & I have been told that she will struggle to make it to the baggage reclaim from arrivals.I have tried to book a wheelchair to meet us from the tour operator, but they won't help us as she is not registered disabled (very unhelpful). Can you offer us any advice please ?
Thanks

Hi Basil

This answer requires faith!

On every flight I have ever been on in Spain you are met at the plane by electric buggies for elderly or disabled passengers.

Last night I flew into Malaga and there were 2 buggies duly waiting!

If you want to be sure you could try to call the Spanish Airport Authority and see what they say, they speak English and are on 0034 902 404 704

Terminals at Madrid

Gary-
By chance I found your web site of questions and answers while trying to find out which Terminal my companion and I will be arriving in at Madrid-Barajas in two weeks.
I come in on Continental (which appears to arrive in T1) and he comes in on Ibera (which appears to come into T4.)
My companion will arrive one half hour before me, if all goes per schedule. We hope to meet at the main hall of T1 outside baggage claim......IF....you can tell me how he gets from T4 to T1's main receiving hall.
I have looked at numerous websites about the airport for the info, but I sure can't find anything pertinent. The only thing I can find is info about the un-manned train between T4S and T4, nothing about a train or shuttle service between T4 and the rest of the Terminals. Is there a free airport shuttle of some sort from T4 to the rest of the terminals? If so, where does one catch it?

Hi Sawn
