Car seats in taxis at Seville Airport

Dear Gary,
My husband, my son Jack and I are traveling to Seville this Thursday 4/26 from the US. Jack is just over a year old. We are wondering what the rules are for taking taxis with small children. Is it possible to install a car seat in a taxi either in Madrid or Seville? Do you know what the rules are on car seats in Spain?
Separately, we are currently booked on a flight from Madrid to Seville and back again on the return. We have a dreadfully long layover in Madrid on both legs of the journey and are considering whether switching to the train between Madrid and Seville might be easier? Any views on this?
Any guidance you can provide would be helpful. Apologies for the short notice, but I only just came upon your site.
Best,
Nicole

My Reply...

Hi Nicole
Car seats in taxis are not the norm and I doubt if you will find one! Its the same in the Uk by the way.
Train is a a good option, very reliable and comfortable and well priced, much more fun for a one year old!
Here is a link to the train website that has all the info in English. (click the flag)

Hope all goes well

Disabled People Traveling around Spain

Dear Sir,
I am a belgian wheelchairer who sometimes travels alone.Do you have some brochure or other info about help/other facilities for disabled people. E.g. guidance from the airport till the airplane. So, I plan to fly from Alicante to Barcelona, somewhere in September. How and where should I ask for help at the departure in Alicante and the arrival at Barcelona and vice versa. If you have some other interesting information in this regard, e.g. accessible appartments, bungalows, hotels, transfer to lodgement, accessible public transport, accessible museums and other places of interest and how to get there.... I would be very grateful.Maybe, there are some special organizations in Spain who help disabled people or tourist to find the most appropriate accommodation and visits during their stay in your country.Yours faithfully
Annie Van Thienen

My Reply...

Hi Annie
It is very difficult for you to get information on this.
Basically at EVERY SPANISH airport that I ahve been to there is a trolley car and a driver waiting at the airplane to take disabled passengers to the luggage area.
It is down to your airline to make sure that you are given assistance.
Apartments etc i dont have any information on BUT here is the official Tourist Website for Spain, I am sure that someone there can help you...

I hope all goes well with your trip

Tarifa to Jerez Airport

Hi I am coming back from Morocco via Tarifa and then flying back from Jerez - any advice on getting back to the airport would be great - your notes last year suggest you have to get a taxi from Tarifa to Alercircas then get a bus to Jerez town, then to the airport - is this still correct or are there direct buses from Tarifa?
If not how much would a taxi cost all the way from Tarifa to Jerez Airport?

Hi Leila
This information still stands as far as I am concerned.
A taxi from Tarifa to Jerez would be about €125 as a rough guide.
Good luck

Fuel in Hire Cars with Car Trawler

Hi there,
I'm looking at hiring 2 cars for my family for a holiday in June from Reus Airport and I’m perplexed as to the fuel policy with different firms.
When checking on the terms and conditions on the cartrawler.com t site FAQ’s, it states that “Car is supplied with a full tank, return full or cost will be EURO 10.75 + VAT plus the price of the missing fuel. For Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz locations only, the policy is as follows: The vihecle will be given with a full tank and it's necessary to return the car empty. Different petrol deposits are requested depending on the car group (from EUR 40 to EUR 65). No petrol refunds are given. For Hotel/Office drop offs, return the tank full in order to get the whole deposit back. For all other locations the deposit will range between EUR 38.00 and EUR 150.00 (depending on car group)
But when I tried to book the car through the web-site, the fuel policy indicated that we would have to bring the car back empty as the entire fuel deposit would be kept by the hire firm?
The only firm that categorically states that fuel tanks need to be refilled is Avis but of course their charges are higher.
Do you happen to know whether firms such as Sol-Ma or Auriga Crown have a flexible fuel policy so we can take and return the vehicle with a full fuel-tank?
Many thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Jason Reeve.

Barcelona Airport to Palace la Pineda Salou

hi, I wander if you can help me I am traveling in a group of 10 people with some children. I need to find the best way to my hotel (Palace La Pineda ) in Salou from Barcelona airport. I am traveling on the 23rd May, my flight is at 5pm in the afternoon. Is it better to go by train, bus or hire a car?Could you please give us some info on this as I would verly appreciate it.ThanksRigs

My Reply...

Hi Rigs
Car hire is good as it would help you get around when there BUT you would need 2 cars! Its about a 2 hour drive from Barcelona. Porbably work out cheaper as well!
Taxi would be a huge price. Bus complicated!
Train is a good choice but you need to go from the airport to Tarragona and then either get a bus or a couple of taxis from Tarragona to Salou (25 kms)
I hope that this helps, there is some

Baby Car Seats in Tenerife

Hi Gary
I wonder if you could answer a question for me.. We are travelling to Tenerife 18th May and have two under 2yr olds with us. Do you know if we can prebook taxi’s that have child car seats in them, need the forward facing ones as they are too big to go in portable ones. Is it necessary for us to have a car seat for infants? I know we can pick up a taxi from outside of Reina Sofia Airport without booking one but just wondered status on carriage of infants.
Thank you for reading this and look forward to your reply
Jenny

My Reply...

Hi Jenny
The normal airport taxis WILL NOT have child seats, the same as normal taxis DO NOT have them in the UK.
The best thing to do is contact the private transfer company we recommend and I am sure they will be able to help.

Flights from Brittany to Tenerife

Hi Gary, we are a family of 4 trying to get to Tenerife for October half term holiday this year. We live in Brittany. France and flights from here are stupidly priced. I have looked into the possiblity of travelling back to the U.K But I think it could be cheaper to drive to Spain and fly from there, which airport? is the question. Can you send me names of airports in northern spain which fly to TFS airport so I can check availability in October

Gratefully yours,

Jane Robertshaw

Hi Jane
You would need to drive down to either Madrid, Santander, Zaragoza, or Barcelona and fly with any of these.....
www.iberia.es
www.spanair.es
www.air-europa.com
You could also try Paris....
I have a feeling it would be easier to go back to the Uk and fly from there...

Estepona to Faro

Hi, Just an enquiry to see if you would be able to find transportation from Estepona to Faro. I can travel from Marbella or Malaga if that is easier but Estepona is my closest town. I don't mind travelling by bus or train - I am looking from something that doesn't cost too much. I noticed on the website you have help other people find suitable transportation. Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, Rachel Nelson

Hi Rachael
The only way is by getting a bus to Seville and then a bus from Seville to Faro.
You can get a bus from Marbella to Seville or Algerciras, I am not too sure about Estepona, think its best for you to go to the bus station and ask.
Here is an article I wrote about getting from Algerciras to Faro

Can you advise me of any operators who might be open until say 22.30

Santiago to Sarria

Hello Gary,
My husband and I will be arriving at the Santiago airport 14 June. We
were wondering if it would be possible to hire a car and driver to take
us from the airport to Sarria, where we want to begin walking. And, if
so, how would we go about arranging that?

Thanks,
Jody Brady

My Reply

Hi Jody

Apologies for the delay in coming back to you.

I dont know of any companies offering a chauffer service at Santiago Airport.

The usual airport taxis would of course be happy to take you and there are always some at the airport.

It might also worth you asking the Hotel where you are heading to if they can recommend anything.

Good luck and I hope all goes well

Regards

Gary

Thanks for the reply. Guess we’ll have to figure out how much a taxi would charge to drive us the 100K to Sarria—or take the bus (with one transfer). It’s turned out to be tricky to get started 100K from Santiago...

Thanks again,

Jody

My Reply...

Hi Jody, yes, I forgot to say it-s not going to be cheap. Taxis in Spain charge about 1 euro per km, so allow 100 euros for the trip *thats about 135 dollars*. I am sure the taxi drivers will negotiate.

Almeria to Mojacar by public transport

Dear Sir
First of all I think your site is first class. I travel to Mojacar regularly via Almeria and hire a car through Carjet which I found to be the cheapest and best value. I am aware that Tarleton operate a coach from the airport but I can not get any time table. I was also wondering is there any other bus transport from the airport to Mojacar other than the Transfer Store which I have checked out. Is it through that they are building another airport down nearer Mojacar.

Many Thanks
James Murphy

My Reply...

Hi James

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for taking so long to come back to you, I have been away.

Getting info on the buses is a real problem, I know that there is not a direct bus from the airport. You have to go into the city center bus station and then change.

Its also worth reading this previous post about the buses, its long read but worth it!

If you find out anything else please do let me know.

Buses from Bilbao to Pyrenees

I arrive in Bilboa on the 16 June at 19:15 to complete the GR11 trek over the Pyrenees.
The website: www2.alsa.es is very good and shows that a there is a bus at 20:45 arriving in Irun near where I start the walk at 22:25. I will stay overnight at Irun.
however I have two questions:
1) Is the departure of the bus from the airport or from the bus terminus in the City? I can not seem to find out the location of the bus stop from the web site.
2) The itinery shows a stop at San Sebastian. Is this a change of bus, or just a stop?

Girona to Calella

I was wondering if you could help, I am planning to fly with Ryan Air to Girona airport with the family and was finding difficulty in looking into how to get to Calella the resort where our hotel is situated by train.
Is it easy to do? we arrive at Girona airport at 9PM and am a little worried as I have two young Children and want it to be a good experience for them. Any advice would be a great help.
Many thanks
David

My Reply...

Hi David

Apologies for the delays in coming back to you.

There is not a train station at Girona Airport so you would need to get into Girona Center and then try and get a train back to Callela. Too much with kids!

Buses are an option, taxis about 75 euros each way, car hire could be the best option.

All the details and links for the buses etc can be found here...

Girona to Calella

To keep it a great experience it may be worth getting a taxi for ease and then sorting out the bus or train for when you fly home. Much easier to get to grips with this when you are there.

Hope all goes well, thats a nice part of Spain.
