Visas and customs clearance at Madrid Airport

Visas are a minefield so I am very reluctant to give you any advice on this. In theory she should not need to clear customs between T4 and T4S. If you let me know which airline she is travelling with I can give you their contact details at Madrid Airport as your safest bet is to check it out with them.

We are arranging for my girlfriends mother to visit us in London from Colombia on a UK visa.



The available flights all go via Madrid and require a transfer from terminal 4 to 4S.



As the flights are with the same carrier her bags will be checked from Bogota to London.



However the unknown is passport control / immigration. Does she need to go through customs / immigration in transferring flights between terminals T4 and T4S?



We had a separate set of flights book but as she had to transfer between terminals T4 and T1 she needed a Spanish visa, which unfortunately was denied, so had to cancel the tickets and are now looking into other alternatives.
