Documentation when travelling with babies

Hi Gary,

I have just booked a flight for myself and my baby to Tenerife South, when I had completed the booking there was a strange message saying I may have problems getting back into England and leaving Spain as I was travelling alone with my baby ( who is 9 months old and off course has her own passport)and may need to take documents to prove she is mine!!! Have you every heard about this, and is it something I should be worried about?! I have never heard anything like it but thought I should try and seek advice before I travel?

Many thanks,
Helen

Hi Helen,

It's not something I've heard of before and I have made a few checks and can't find out anything about it. As far as I am aware as long as she has a passport she can travel. Where did this message come from?

Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for getting back to me, great news, I hadn't heard of it either but when I booked our flights on line at travel republic.com it had a message at the bottom that stated as I was travelling on my own with my young daughter I may need to take documentation with me to prove she's mine! I don't know if its got anything to do with the fact we have different surnames on our passports as I haven't changed mine since I got married but I don't know why this would matter?

Thanks for your help.
