Taking canned food through customs

As long as you put the canned food in baggage which is going in the hold of the aircraft you can bring it into Spain

I'm from Singapore and visiting Spain next month.
Would like to know if i could bring canned food for personal consuming into Madrid airport?
Do I have to declare upon arrival?
