Somewhere to meet up at Madrid Airport

Madrid is a huge international airport with four terminals - each of which has a number of customs areas. I don't know which flight or airline your friends are travelling with, but if they are also travelling into terminal 4 then it is best to meet outside customs as you suggest. Starbucks is as good a place as any, but they have coffee shops on the ground and first floor so make sure you tell them which one!

We are flying into Madrid from US arriving on Iberia on Wednesday. It appears that we arrive in Terminal 4 and then will go through customs there. We are meeting American friends who fly from the US to Frankfort and then into Madrid on Spanair. Will they be going through the same customs location as we do? Is there more than one customs area in more than one terminal at the Madrid airport? They arrive about 2 hours after us and we want to find a convenient place to meet. We thought outside customs might be a good idea. Please advise.
