Mardrid Airport
Hi Dawn,
Madrid is a large international airport and the staff will be able to direct your son to whichever terminal or departure area he needs to go to. If he is at all unsure then he should head for the nearest information desk (they are situated on every floor of every terminal) as they employ multilingual staff and will be able to help him. There are plenty of cafes and shops at the airport which will hopefully keep him occupied between flights.
As far as hand baggage restrictions are concerned, if you follow this link it will give you the current situation in Spain as published by the airport authority: http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?Language=EN_GB&pagename=subHome&SiteName=

Hi Gary,
I have a fifteen year son who is traveling via Madrid to Dublin at end of November for a holiday.
He has never flown before and I am a bit concerned once he arrives and has to find the correct terminal etc, will there be someone that understands English that would be able to assist him to find where he boards the next plane, once he arrives from Johannesburg in South Africa.
I know he has quite a long wait from arrival to departure.
Also what restrictions are there in hand luggage, can he take for argument sake deodorant, toothpaste .
Please assist and give me any info that you can.
Dawn Webb
