Lost property at Palma Airport

Hi again Karin,

Good news about your watch. I live on mainland Spain so my knowledge of courier services in Mallorca is not extensive, but I have found two of the large international companies have offices there and they do seem to arrange pick ups and onward transportation for you. They are DHL Express telephone: +34 902 122 424 or UPS telephone: +34 902 888 820

If you are not happy about ringing them them, both companies have websites from where you can send an email. Hope you manage to sort something out.

Hi Linda

Thank you so much for your help.

I sent several emails and eventually spoke to someone in the lost property at Palma Airport and my watch was found as I thought, in the security check area, so I am really pleased and I have a reference number for it.

Although the lady spoke English sometimes it was difficult for me to understand her but I need to either collect it within a year or organise for an international courier needing my signature. I have looked on the Internet for a courier in Palma but without success in English and once again wondered if you could help me in that direction. I have spoken to parcel force over here and they confirmed that I would need to find a local courier to organise that.

I hope you can help and thank you again for your assistance so far.

Hi Karin,

What a sad end to your holiday. We have had a number of emails about items going missing from the metal trays because they have spilled over. Contact numbers at Palma are as follows:

The handling agents for Jet2 are Palma Flight Service at http://personal5.iddeo.es/zippo/ or telephone +34 971 789 409 (at Palma Airport) or email: enquiries@jet2.com
The lost property number at Palma is + 34 971 789 456 email: pmi_info@aena.es

Hope you manage to find your watch.

Linda

Hi Gary

I hope that you can advise me or at least point me in the right direction.

First of all, I praise our UK airports for their very good security checks both outward and inward, speedy, efficient and straightforward. I have been through Palma Airport Majorca for the last 2 years and this process both times I have found chaotic. I know it is a busy airport but the security bit is FRANTIC to say the least.

I was in Palma airport yesterday and it was very, very busy and on going through the security process emptied my metal objects into a tray as did the lady in front of me with our bags and jackets on top. Everything jammed up on the conveyor with my jacket on someone else's tray and mine and consequently it was an absolute rushed muddle. When I finally got through I realised that my watch was not in the tray so I frantically checked through some trays and on the floor and finally in my bag and then asked one of the security men rushing round with trays if a watch had been noticed or handed in and he just said "Ask a Policeman in Green." He was too busy to even catch his breath and of course no Police in Green were around. I do not know the value of this watch as it was a gift with great sentimental value and would rather try and get the watch back than claim insurance. Please can you advise me how to contact anyone at Palma airport security or Jet2.com as they have a box there so that I can explain in English and at least make enquiries by email.

Thank you.

Karen Nicklin
