Getting to Salou from Girona

if you are travelling with a family seems you best option is to get a bus from Girona Airport to Barcelona Sants Railway Station and then get a train.

Could you advise the best way to make a transfer from Girona Airport to Salou. I am travelling with my family. I need to find the cheapest and obviously a taxi is out of the question. Could I get a train to Bacelona and get a connecting train to Salou or is there any other way?
