Getting from Faro to Malaga

This is a question which I get asked a lot and unfortunately transport links from Portugal to Spain are very poor.

There are no trains or flights from Faro to Malaga but you can get a bus which leaves Portugal at 02.00 in the morning and gets into Malaga at 08.45. Hi Gary,

I'm trying to get from Faro to Malaga with two small children at the end of Sept. What would be the best way of doing this. I can fly to somewhere and then drive if necessary, or would it just be better to drive the whole way, or could we get a direct train.
