Advance Passenger Information

Hi Ann,

Yes they do need it now: It's part of a new security screening system called Advance Passenger Information which was introduced here a few months ago, where they need your passport number to check other items including your date of birth, etc, which the Spanish Authorities need before you can board the plane. Easyjet are ahead of the game by asking for it now - a lot of airlines collect the information when you check in or obtain it by scanning the magnetic strip at the back of the newer passports. All of the EU countries are eventually going to be asking for this information - it is already in effect in America.
